So you think Drake cant just go on a music video + music run like in 2018? Let him find the right sound for another 2018 summer when he found that Nola Bounce.
I think he decided he wont do the most anymore for a "mega hit".
Bro releases music without trying to control the narrative for the most part! Only Joe Budden got under his skin and made him address the critics.
Budden got him good too
I think he just havin fun with it based on music videos and he stopped really pushing songs heavy and pushing the right songs and he dont do remixes for his music either.
Making this thread to settle the debate with @dreamville and @thegreatdivine in the numbers thread.
By “mega-hit” we mean a song that is inescapable, where it feels like everyone knows the record, and you can’t go anywhere without hearing the song.
My argument is not that Drake doesn’t have any hits this decade, my argument is that Drake have any mega-hits this decade. To be more specific, I don’t think he has any songs this decade that are bigger than any of his biggest songs from 2009-2019.
Some songs from this decade that I consider to be mega-hits (off the top of my head):
Watermelon Sugar
Blinding Lights
Save Your Tears
The Box
Kiss Me More
Good 4 U
As It Was
Flowers
Kill Bill
Snooze
Bad Habit
Just Wanna Rock
@thegreatdivine and @dreamville both disagree, citing Billboard stats and streaming numbers and platinum certifications as their evidence.
I’m just making this thread to settle the debate because the back and forth is pointless, but I’m curious to see what y’all think. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but feel free to give your opinions.
If you think he does have mega-hits this decade, name which ones you think they are.
And please don’t argue ITT, this isn’t bait, just post your opinion and keep it moving
“Some songs from this decade that I consider to be mega-hits (off the top of my head)”
I stopped reading after you posted yours..
I feel bad for anyone having to debate “whatever” you got going.
Compared to your list.. Drake does.
See how simple that was?
I don’t think drake’s goal is to make mega pop hits anymore though, he’s making music for clubs, his og fanbase, and like streamer/gambling culture

I would say he doesn’t have a single song this decade as big as any of the ones I mentioned, but okay
That’s all he has when he argues. @shaleirose ain’t slick
That’s not true whatsoever, but sure
Yeah buddy got banned for d***riding kanye’s nazi ways and created an alt after getting perma’d and somehow the mods just let him slide with this alt
@sab @safe
Not what happened at all, go back and read the thread I was banned in. I did not once defend anything Kanye said.
Of course. My point is he’s much more dependent on it now tho and they ain’t even selling out. Boy meets world tour was basically just him too
Could have taken you 5 minutes to do some research instead of just talking out of your ass

What am I looking at, I was talking about the big as the what tour bro
What's bad habit and just wanna rock doing on that list then
They just barely make the cut imo
the 21 can you do sum for me song.... viral memes don't automatically make a song a "megahit"
It’s hilarious when people use anecdotes to argue a point, and then call someone else out for doing the exact same thing to refute their point
I’ve seen so many users on this site do that multiple times
What am I looking at, I was talking about the big as the what tour bro
His most recent tours, with the most recent one being his best yet in both attendance and revenue
they ain’t even selling out
Because op original argument was that carnival is bigger than any drake hit this decade
Oh that's hilarious
They just barely make the cut imo

Bingo. It’s the same reason why IDGAF isn’t a mega-hit. People only know the part from the memes

This is a ridiculous statement
Oh that's hilarious
Show me the Drake song from this decade that was #1 on Spotify for 30 straight days the same way Carnival currently is
Show me the Drake song that was #1 simultaneously on all three major streaming platforms in the country the same way Carnival was
This is a ridiculous statement
Every time I’ve ever seen anyone play that song, they literally just scream “MONEY FOR FUN!” and then are silent the entire rest of the song’s runtime

While independent, blacklisted, no playlisting, or radio play.
But the tiktok vids of bad habits makes it a mega hit ?
It's a part of it, yeah, but it was big outside of that

I'm talking bout rich flex.
