Have you felt any pressure to conform to a more American sound or style in any way?

People know how much I love my culture and where I’m from. So it’s never been something where I would even want to, because the source is in South Africa. I also feel like we are changing the way people see pop right now because “Water” is an African song. Afrobeats has a log drum sound and it’s in the Billboard Hot 100 with all pop songs. It’s amazing.

Music industry not entertainment industry and I wouldn't say easier but once they get that initial push nobodys gonna question if she belongs in the culture or not, actually their skin tone or race isn't gonna be in question at all, it's gonna be more about what controversial things she does or says but still probably wont get completely shut down. Black women just really like giving lightskin people a hard time ngl 😂

You might not think this matters but if you look at any spaces on social media where it's mainly black women they're usually the ones to try to stop lightskin black women from flourishing in music making it all about bs like hair texture or what their parents look like or if she can call herself black or not it's actually pretty f***ed up tbh smh
