It's certainly not a bad thing. I'm not necessarily gonna enjoy the results but that was fairly common practice during the blog era. Anxiety just happened to blow up at a time when those new freestyles could really make it big.

That s*** just became too popular.. and it’s a flip of an already popular song. So people became jaded.

No I see your point but I’m saying what’s is that an artist under a major label is still producing a commodity so her artistic expression, like all artists in her position, have to be shaped and molded to be sold so you’re not really describing something specific to doechii but all artists will have pressure (from labels, etc) to mold their original “vision” into something else

And obviously there’s still room for debate since what’s perceived as genuine or not to a degree is subjective… clearly some bullshit meme Artist doing a gimmick will be taken less seriously than like Andre 3000 or Pink Floyd in how people critique their music but they’re isn’t a conspiracy behind why a majority of people would subjectively say the latters music is “real” art or “good”, etc

TDE DEFINITELY scrubbed that gun video from the internet that s*** gets instant taken down anywhere. but yet another thing they tried to use against her when it was found out as reasons as to why people shouldn’t listen to her smh

So there’s a conspiracy that TDE before she was famous made her rap a song over a MF doom type beat from YouTube telling the story of the past 5 years of her life, the struggles and addiction that came with it, so she could include a line about I like d**** so that people can take that out of context to endorse d*** use?

No I just think that’s part of why she’s in her spot. And I think to get that Grammy darling level status like Kendrick got there is some weird behind the scenes dealings that goes with it that we probably don’t know. It all comes from the Dr Dre family tree and I firmly believe that Dr Dre and Aftermath was and is a conspiracy to use hip hop to spread negativity. So I believe once all those artists got in that room with Dre whether it’s Em or kendrick and then up to Doechii with TDE and the Grammy board there’s an understanding there. Operation Kendrick Lamar was to sell the public a “positive” type rapper that actually stays within the lines that they approve and still has a healthy dose of violence and trauma in the music. Really Cole and Noname should have Kendrick and Doechiis spots if we actually pay attention to the 5th element of hip hop being knowledge but I guess we left that in the past with graffiti, it seems like they’re both illegal now

As someone who isn’t a big fan of Doechii’s music, I would never think about going on the internet and making these vitriolic and aggressive comments that I have seen against her. I genuinely do believe about 90% of the hate comments I have seen against her are due to her skin colour. Not only from racists, but, unfortunately, Black people who have been influenced by this post-manosphere/elon/trump internet culture that has been preaching anti-blackness for the past few years as well and has been an issue in the world of sports and film along with music.

She already had popular songs before Anxiety. People like Anxiety so it got big.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. And saying you can't come back from that song is total nonsense. Ignorance is not cool, just do better with how you form opinions.

Because I don’t like Anxiety song means I’m ignorant, so I should come round to your way of thinking and just conclude that at best it’s ok? That’s just following the crowd is it not, to your original point?

Whole point of a music forum is discussion, not a “one reply fits all” conversation, no?.

No idea why people get so uptight and just look to shut down discourse they’re unwilling to entertain because it doesn’t suit their agenda. I’m not coming in here shutting down anyone’s opinions so why should you.

Lmao dawg what? I think you just hate the way you look gang Saying this about Rocky is even funnier because his whole style is about how fly he is and his “aura”

Lol it’s not about me but pretty privilege is real in the music industry. And I feel like even though that’s not the same as being an industry plant or nepo baby I kind of look at it similar. Plus ASAP proved it right by being a model and never really living up to any artistic potential

Operation Kendrick Lamar seems to be flopping pretty hard after just one song since most of the mainstream hiphop been tripping over themselves lately. I mean the least embarrassing thing someone out them did was maybe Yachty and he still got cussed out by karahboo on IG live

Not liking rhe song is completely fine and normal. I said my comment because you said the song is unforgiveable. It was ignorant because she had a few big songs before Anxiety, so it wasnt the song that made her big.

You might have meant it in an off the cuff manner but these types of comments just continue and encourage the vitriol even if it's not what you intended

before we even get to mentioning the manosphere tho, it has to begin at the fact that the black community is still very split on homosexuality and also there is a growing divide and conversation taking shape in people who think racism should be categorized with other inequalities, i.e. stop equating race to gender type s***. split rn is like 70/30, with the 70 saying we should focus on race only. the conversation has become very complicated the last 60 years once you really start talking to people…you can’t just have a blanket conversation anymore about race/gender/sexuality because within that there is still now even more dissent and disagreement
