Would say it's the complete opposite, people in s***ty positions turn to religion to save them or motivate themselves out of it.

That’s why I claim to be agnostic
I’m not a believer per se, but also I know I can’t say for sure. I’ve found myself trying to talk to god when something bad happens and know I will when it inevitably happens in the future
But also, I can’t lie and say I truly believe
Would say it's the complete opposite, people in s***ty positions turn to religion to save them or motivate themselves out of it.
thats what the post is saying
A true atheist would thug it out
I believe in a god that's as flawed as me and he just happens to control us on a whim. I believe in a higher power, but I don't believe we ever accurately recorded how he functions nor Jesus.
When the plane shakes I hope he decides to be nice. I always aim to do good and do well for humanity, and I don't think it'll buy me a ticket to heaven. I rather heaven exist around me
thats what the post is saying
Not quite, i'm saying people already growing up in bad environments (poverty, high crime, financial hardship etc.) find religion to solve their problems. These people are not atheists like the post says.

But the post is saying that people turn to religion when they face hardship. Isn’t that what you’re saying?

Guess it's how literal you want to take the word "atheists" here. I use it as rejection of God/Religion but ppl casually use it to mean an everyday non-religious person going about their day.
I don't think the former changes their mind based on hardship
Tough times can turn some people towards God and turn others away from God. It goes both ways. A lot of atheists have faith when there's turbulence and a lot of theists lose faith when there's turbulence.

I disagree personally, usually the converts/reverts who take their faith the most seriously are people who went through intense periods of doubt / loss of faith
This presumes that everyone who turns atheist is doing it from a place of unchallenged comfort or privilege and that's not true. Some approach the subject from a place of science and logic not theology. Others are hardened by hardship instead of turning to a divine entity for relief. It's really a spectrum of outcomes.

That again is not the same as people who reject it completely. Converts/reverts are not atheists, neither are most agnostics.
It’s a dumbass take
Coping take tbh
I’m not even atheist that’s just a dumb take
you got it backwards
faith isn't strong, man is weak

Full tweet for those not wanting to go on a website owned by a neo nazi:
"Atheism is easiest when life is comfortable and within your control. But I’ve personally witnessed several times when people face things like a long prison sentences, terminal illness, violence or death.. something interesting happens.
Those who once claimed certainty suddenly begin praying, asking for mercy and hoping for something beyond themselves.
Because when you’re confronted with forces you can’t control, rebellion tends to fade, and humility tends to appear."
