when people bring up Beyonce, everyone talks about crazy performance. Every single artists you mentioned couldnt dance and sing for an hour like Beyonce, they will be grasping for air by first 15 min

Oh so it is about endurance. Nothing about the quality of what is happening in between those breaks of rests.

WWE must be the best ever piece of media crafted if by going with this logic.

Cause either way, it’s about what is being performed

if its all about how well a person is able to play an instrument, millions of session instrumentalists from music colleges would rip MJ,Prince apart
but they aint relevant cause its nothing special.

Now if you try to find woman that got Beyonce’s endurance, vocals, beauty that would be much smaller number

yeah she definitely is, this site despises her though so you’re not gonna get unbiased answers (due to the prevalence of caucasians, hipsters, foreigners etc) @op

as you said, her run from 4 to RENAISSANCE is absolutely phenomenal, she is one of the greatest singers of this generation (if not all time, really) she’s a transcendent performer, an icon etc. i could really go on here all day

i would not say that her music in terms of raw quality however—is on the level of Prince’s MJ’s etc. but in terms of actual status per se, she’s definitely there if not a couple steps down or so, i think she’s the closest this gen honestly got

if kanye is somehow on the level of MJ and beyonce isn’t, this really just proves my point that this site is filled with delusional d***riders for sure

Not tryna say you wrong but why exactly? Just because it “feels” like that “should” be the case? Or is there a logical argument to back up the claim that MJ is in a “whole nother league” above Beyoncé?

I feel like so many of us (not necessarily saying you) blindly align ourselves with certain long held cultural opinions (ie MJ over everybody, Illmatic over every rap album etc) without doing any actual a***ysis for ourselves.

i mean its not really something that can be logically argued or proven like a mathematical equation at its root though... thats not to say that because something is a cultural consensus the culture cant change to recognize a new consensus but, i mean, if people "feel" that MJ is in a completely different league or oldheads feel like no good new rap music has been released since the shiny suit era, you can't logic and debate them into a different belief

y’all gotta stop knocking bey for having writers/ not producing enough on her own lol (especially when some of the artists y’all stan has writers) to me having a great vision, ideas, and execution trumps being able to play like 100 different instruments/ writing everything on your own

the funniest part is that MJ had writers and collaborated too, but for some reason this is always conveniently left out when niggas are d***riding him on this site when we’re doing comparisons (and as an aside, there’s documentaries + people that have worked with her that have said it’s literally a full on collaborative process, as in she adds things in other people wouldn’t think of, transforms the song, brings the ideas to life etc.)

even prince himself said she knew a good bit about music in general

same with kanye, kanye is somehow on the level of MJ + Prince, but he doesn’t get a knock or criticized for his use of collaborators + writers, because you know, they’re stans

how they deal with the cognitive dissonance is sincerely beyond me

while MJ didn't play instruments on his tracks he laid down rhythms vocally

…and so did beyonce, you’re pretty much a dumbass, glad @vicesvotive cleaned you up

So. JID does not exist as a result of Kendrick?

Concept albums booming after Kendrick’s GKMC released?

Are you foaming at the mouth?

    Coachella? Uh huh,

MJ the reason we still have super bowl performances cause he set the standard

Stevie’s albums were the standard for the 70’s.

Nothing you speak about actually tells me anything to support who she is. Someone who was popular with the times and keeps evolving, but never having an era that defined who she is.

She is an amoeba, always familiar but never having any shape when it comes to who she is.

    Blindly carpet munching

When did I talk about session artists?

I said it is about what is being performed for the audience to experience. We can have some of the strongest musicians with the most challenging, difficult sheet of music, but how well will that translate for the ears? How well can it be consumed?

And these are pop artists, not jazz musicians from the 50’s/60’s who’s skills were put to the test

Beyonce’s ability to perform is understandable since it isn’t the standard once thought of. I give props to her on that.

But beauty isn;t a factor, and shouldn't;t with the music. Cause for sure, I am not thinking about how a person looks in my mind while listening to their songs.

i’ve been saying for years that if she divorced that nigga, her stock would go UP

it would probably even change the way society views divorced women. so many women would leave their man just because Bey did it lmao

Tbh, it would make some of her discography not age well.

No diss to Bey, she had a lot of these songs while having songs that uplift women.

Crazy how that's 1 track, but I haven't seen peeps go hard for Dangerously in Love as a whole. Meanwhile B-Day is getting more love everyday.

No, she's not. She's probably the closest thing this generation has, through clever marketing and 100+ dancer performances.

Incredible talent, but not on the level of the 'true' greats.

  • Jan 30, 2023

Bey a interesting case for me, because she's very iconic, but I can't see her on par with MJ, Prince, and Stevie musically.

And Yes MJ had help on Thriller and Off the Wall, but y'all forgetting the masterpieces that were Bad and Dangerous that MJ wrote and composed majority of.

And those albums imo are just as legendary as Off the Wall and Thriller.

Also Prince and Stevie alone are just god-tier.

Imo, MJ is Tier 1.5 while Prince and Stevie are Tier 1.

Take it how y'all like but that's my opinion.
