Each person is a combination of several personality traits rolled into one total personality.
The theory is that the universe out there is the macrocosm of our individual ego, the microcosm. So each planet or planetary force is said to correlate to each aspect of our microcosm or ego. For example, Mercury is said to hold intelligence and cunning. Etc etc. (you can look it up)
So at the exact time and place of your birth, somehow they find out exactly which planetary bodies were acting on you. From that they can predict certain aspects of your personality and life
Saying youre just one astrological sign based on the yearly date of your birth is too simplistic and is a meme. In reality its a mix
