For example, when ranking MJ, the obligatory #1 is Thriller 95% of the time. But I actually think Bad and Dangerous are better.
Same for Jay. RD or BP1 are regarded as #1 (which I agree with) but I wouldn’t have a problem if someone thought 4:44 was his best.
For Ye, it’s almost blasphemous to put anything above MBDTF on here.
I think people tie nostalgia in with the music, and it’s hard for them to separate to two. The feelings you had when you were younger listening to the music play a big part that outweighs how the music actually sounds.
Thoughts?
i've heard off the wall for MJ many times, i don't think it's particularly controversial at all. my friend's favorite is HIStory.
i don't think there's a unanimous pick for kanye's best album, his first six albums are just too close together in quality for there to be a clear favorite. your average normie will probably say graduation though because that has half of his iconic, career defining songs on it.
yes
which is y its better to just say how u really feel
also hate that “favorite” vs “best” false dichotomy erybody be doin
its nowhere near 95% of people saying that
Contrarians always think they’re so unique lol or think something that was a hot take 20 years ago is still a hot take like the contrarians havent been loud as hell for 20 years lmao
Nobody on here thinks it’s blasphemous to put Kanye’s previous albums over mbdtf
but if niggas said TLOP ud be right there @ their neck ASAP lmao
I agree with the nostalgia bit cause most people likely got into music in their teens towards the early twenties and that time we're at our most impressionable.
I think some folk just want to be seen to have the most exquisite taste in music so they go with what's commonly accepted or that has the most critical acclaim. this is all rooted in being performative and insecurity is the main driver.
It's interesting I see Gen Z being drawn more towards Grad than MBDTF
but if niggas said TLOP ud be right there @ their neck ASAP lmao
Well…
but if niggas said TLOP ud be right there @ their neck ASAP lmao

This
man with your 2 examples I'd go Off the Wall and The Black Album
Off the wall is MJ’s least interesting album out of thriller, bad and dangerous 🤷♂️
