People associate that time period and aesthetics to that album more than they do the actual music

Off the wall is such a safe album. Not saying that’s bad, but it’s not as daring or exciting as his other work.

i don’t think it’s safe at all. but i also don’t expect debut albums to be all that daring bc the artist is still finding their formula. and daring doesn’t always mean better. Invincible is more daring but not nearly as good as OTW
