its like alot of yall would rather that teenager stab a couple people before its justified - or maybe stopping violence is never justified if its a cop
catching/stopping someone right before they about to stab someones throat is like a heroic thing for a person to do, cop or not
the policing system in general isn't justifiable
i would rather that funds that went into teaching some weird white guy how to decide which Black girl died went to resources that would have prevented this situation in general
that's what I'M saying
yall walk up and see this what are you doing as a cop? how do u handle this situation? does anyone have any easy answers?

hey bigman..
if you had a gun and you walked up and saw this, what would YOU do?
This situation isn’t black and white, but at the end of the day it’s unfortunate that a child lost her life. And a lot of yall are showing yall ass
Knowing the situation that led to Makiah Bryant grabbing a knife to stab one of the four girls who jumped her in the first place...no I wouldn't say anything if the cop failed to save that girl.
It’s all f***ed up man. But when an officer runs into a scene like that it’s gonna be their gut instinct to do what he did. I think it’s best for cops to carry non lethal ammunition because s*** like this will keep on happening forever.

I said I'd still use a taser cause I ain't tryna kill anybody. A knife wound easier to treat than four shots to the chest. Having said that though, I most likely wouldn't make it as a cop since apparently cops are trained to kill. Which I feel is part of a major issue with cops in the US that seems to affect Black people more than other race.
Tackle her even tho she's half a second away from killing someone obviously seeing as cops have super speed. Or taser her even tho that s*** only works half the time and when you consider ole girl is overweight the percentage drops even more. Too bad he was such a racist he couldn't do those illogical thing.
This is the last reply you are getting from me addressing this specific article.
This argument was already addressed and deaded a while ago
"We were careless when describing the inferences that could be made from our data. This led to the misuse of our article to support the position that the probability of being shot by police did not differ between Black and White Americans. To be clear, our work does not speak to this issue and should not be used to support such statements. We accordingly issued a correction to rectify this statement (Johnson & Cesario, 2020).
Although our data and statistical approach were valid to estimate the question we actually tested (the race of civilians fatally shot by police), given continued misuse of the article we felt the right decision was to retract the article rather than publish further corrections. We take full responsibility for not being careful enough with the inferences made in our original article, as this directly led to the misunderstanding of our research. "
People misused the article so they retracted. They believe their research to be valid. I'm not misusing their argument. I already said for instance it's indisputable use of force is disproportionately something black people in the U.S. have to deal with.

Attempt to save the life of the girl who was about to be stabbed?

if that girl in pink tracksuit was your mom or loved one or somethin you would be okay with her getting stabbed cause knife wound is easier to treat?
what would yall have done?
Attempt to save the life of the girl who was about to be stabbed?
ok. how? you have a gun. forget all the cop training. you’re just a human with a gun. you gonna shoot the girl bc you think that’s truly the right thing?

so say that, don't say the cop was "right" or "did what he had to do"
say "cops should carry non-lethal ammunition so this doesn't happen"
hey bigman..
if you had a gun and you walked up and saw this, what would YOU do?
i wouldn't get involved
how would you disarm the girl with the knife? take me thru it step by step

Yes if I was a cop and that was my job
"calculating P(shot|race) for the entire population will likely show evidence of anti-Black disparity, whereas calculating P(shot|race) for the pool of civilians who have violent interactions with the police will likely show no evidence of anti-Black disparity."
"we did not calculate the probability that a person is shot given their race, i.e., P(shot|race)."
Now I see why I was confused. You tried to distinguish the argument he is making from something I said in a weird fashion and I really didn't get what you meant. I still don't. Did you really think I was speaking about people in general and not encounters?

Then you admit that The Police Force has effectively become useless. The get our tax dollars and do what with it? They aren’t putting it into correctly training their officers and they aren’t putting it towards an effective measure of using non-lethal force to stop someone like tasers that cops apparently don’t use.
So they’re basically there to just shoot and kill anyone that acts up which is NOT what their purpose is supposed to be. They’re as we’ve been all been saying f***ing useless.

their purpose (one of em) is to stop attempted murders which they did in this casue

You can’t use this one specific instance to support that entire argument

ya id never make it either
If going around and killing everyone is seen as the correct course of action and being defended by these idiots than America has a serious problem, but we knew that already.
