Potential Kendrick and SZA Collab Album

Obviously the album hasn’t been officially announced so we can only speculate but there are quite a few signs pointing to a Kendrick and SZA collab album happening and if this album was ever in the works now is probably the best time to drop it.

Both Kendrick and SZA are at the peak of popularity rn...GNX and SOS Deluxe are literally holding the #1 and #2 spots on the charts which shows they’re the two biggest artists in the US at the moment. On top of that they’re about to go on tour together for at least six months (probably much longer if Kendrick adds more dates).

The chemistry is undeniable and ppl clearly love the songs they make as a duo. This album would drop at the perfect time as both of them are looking to start a new chapter in their music careers and with all the drama in rap lately this could be the kinda project that shifts the energy toward something more positive.

This thread is mostly to discuss the album and what ppl would want to see in a potential collab. Here’s what I’d love:

• Album should have 12-14 songs max.
• The only feature I’d want is Frank Ocean (he would blend perfectly with Kendrick and SZA).
• It should drop in late August.
• The album should be announced in May, ideally during the tour, when they’ll be getting the most attention.
• It needs a huge promo campaign (no surprise drop).
• It should include a short film or a full storyline like Beyonce’s Lemonade.
• The Luther MV should mark the beginning of a new era and end with a teaser hinting at what’s next.
• The album should have at least four high quality MVs.
• Right after the album drop they should announce a world tour with 100+ stadium shows

I think it should be more of an EP. Like around 6-7 tracks. Their chemistry is undeniable but I wouldn't want them to overstay their welcome. 30 for 30 for example is a song where while good, it went on for a little too long and u were kinda over it by the end. I wouldn't want that to happen in album form.

I'm a bigger fan of when their collabs are sprinkled in to their albums. GNX was the perfect time to bring back a collab with them

Kendrick has released a total of 19 songs in the past year: Like That, Euphoria, 6:16 in LA, MTG, NLU, WTPD, 30 for 30, plus 12 from GNX. Meanwhile others are dropping albums packed with 20+ tracks.

Would prefer a SZA/Isaiah Rashad collab tbh. Feel like they have more chemistry and would do wonders for his career with how big she is now

That’s a good point you made. I think the album would only work if they both dig into their music vault and drop the best verses. SZA could use songs meant for her new solo album and Kendrick should do the same. This can’t be a half baked project it needs to be 12 of the best songs they’ve ever recorded. If they can’t deliver then the album shouldn’t happen.
