  • When you been on the mic for that long, whether you’re drinking, not drinking, keeping up vocal lessons like we knew he did before, or just spending more time relaxing - Father Time might always catch up.

What I’ve concluded from the auto tune even on the slow beats he’s rapping on (in ep 3 and even on for all the dogs) is damaged vocal cords that they are trying to hide. I used to think it was the mixing on some tracks but this is now everywhere, we are never able to hear his vocals clearly anymore.

If that’s the case, it’s heartbreaking because above all, his greatest gift was his god given voice as an MC - a once in a century type of voice.

    What do yall think?

I can't comment on any vocal damage but as a longtime Drake fan I do feel like the quality of his vocals got worse in the past few years. Hard to say if it's vocal damage or laziness or stylistic choice but it bugs me lol

I know from managing artists that it takes a lot of upkeep and tea drinking to make sure you never lose that. I know in the beginning of his career he really cared about it. My worry is that it caught up and his lack of care for the last 5 years may have damaged it to the point where they are gonna keep hiding his vocals with autotune even in raps.

anything is possible but i feel like it could be mixing related. his albums haven't sounded the same since clb, for better or for worse

There are still songs, where he sounds good and at least kinda clean. Bahamas Promises, Lasers for example.

But I'm not a fan, when he uses autotune so noticable. It started on DLDT.

I do agree that I want less auto tune but don’t think we are hearing more because vocal cord damage.. if either of us wanted to go into a booth and sing with technology now we could sound good without auto tune

I think he’s just leaning more into experimenting tbh.

  • nah you know whose vocal chords are damaged.. justin bieber as well as travis

I’ve been saying this for awhile now but I also think he’s gotten a bit lazier with his “vocal upkeep” if you will
