FellaPretty much every French post modern philosopher made that argument at the time but it was a consequence of them deconstructing western moral truths and claims about normative sexuality. A lot of their work was good, they just went too far with it.

ArujiSouthland Tales much better than Donnie Darko imo. Doesn't make that much sense but Donnie Darko doesn't either (sry that time travel explanation is ridiculous) Tales is extremely paranoid and has some of the most startling visuals of the 00s
Southland Tales is great but I wouldn’t say Darko is much worse or anything. I think it’s really successful at exactly what it’s going for. Like American Beauty it’s gotten an unreasonable level of hate in recent years. I like it a lot.
