artificial rise supposed to mean the guy didnt grind and its all label work but like this is just an independant artist that made good connects and capitalized off timing well really. I remember when he was smaller and trying to put everyone onto easter pink.

rapsDrake just showed how simple and effective this is with Janice STFU and some of the other Iceman tracks lol you can do the rage beats and still have lyrics that make sense / be relatively lyrical

Maybe I could’ve framed it better but I was thinking this is supposed to be the next superstar? Not just next up. People who have had similar origin stories or gotten co signs the way he has plus press have gone on to be SUPERSTARS. Of course times are different now and not being a superstar also doesn’t mean one’s career is a failure.

outside of a few songs that've been popular, i dont think he makes music that is accessible + digestible while also being an envelope pusher. that s*** is difficult and only a few artists manage to do that well (your kanyes, your weeknds, your charli's, ill even throw in lana del rey for the david lynch fans).
creating a finished product that can capture the masses as well as being critically beloved is no easy task. i dont think he even has superstar appeal atm.

can’t say I gleaned that level of hype but I’m not following him super closely. I’d say it feels like he has ‘indie superstar’ hype for lack of a better designation, it might hurt him that the project seems to have gotten more of a middling reception than even a polarizing one, but he’s still super young in his career it’d be pointless to say
