A reminder that the Knicks lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals when Jay Z was there, and won Game 4 when Nas was there.
But Ivory Coast beat Ecuador
Take off the Yankee brim, we goin home

damn you missed the triple entendre

1. This is gonna be overblown because its Jay and it comes in the tradition of Brooklyn Nets gentrification and “We’re past kneeling” but nigga ain’t nobody really been sticking to that boycott lol and he’s far from the only artist or rapper to recently do this.
2. It’s more egregious to me that the Jays Drakes Kanyes Ross Diddys etc haven’t created a black owned alternative to the big box stores so that we don’t need to boycott “their” stores in the first place
If they did 2, yall would be the first to hate on it too. U can’t win from envy
Niggas was 100% NOT boycotting the NFL btw. Yeah Kaep kneeling was respectable… but why we acting like it didn’t turn into a self serving circus before Jay came in?
Now boycotting target.. hey I do know some people that have said they were actively doing so.. but if you ask me for the most part all that energy stayed online.

I don’t think watching football compares to doing an entire deal with them but get what you mean . People were widely critical of nfl though
I think you can critique and kill Jay for a lot of his moves in business and corporate, even with his charitable moves and moves for social justice also public as well… but this is nothing burger that’s being spread by niggas who will look right past their favorite artists also doing the same thing lol cut the bullshit
Are people really rushing to Target to get their hands on a vinyl reissue of Reasonable Doubt?
I might
This is the most forced fake ass outrage I’ve seen
I don’t doubt target sucks but so does every corporation. I don’t believe anyone actually cares about this

I personally looked at Jay joining with the NFL funny too. I mean it was obviously a play by the NFL to win over the community right? Call in a favored with someone you have a “relationship” with for optics.
But what I’m saying is niggas rewrite history like that situation was Kaep marching on Selma… by the time Jay got that deal Kaep already got paid by his settlement wit the NFL for millions he wasn’t “back doored”. It’s not Jay’s fault he was blackballed, them old ass Cacs were not gonna have him on that field after everything went down.
Good for you gang, that’s wassup!
We keep going . Willie and I reached peace we both hate Benny boy

Oh yes there is more nuance to it by a bit
Nah, this is a very simplified way of looking at it. There’s a distinction between being indifferent and s***ting on a movement, and also partnering with the other side.
Jay basically did the latter. “We’re past kneeling and I’m working with the nfl.”
You can have your reservations on the merits of kneeling being performative, and whether Jay should even be critiqued about it, but it’s not just a nothing burger. He decided “yeah f*** that, I’m taking this opportunity with the nfl.” Which doesn’t really bother me, it’s par for the course for him.
I forgot to reply lol but yeah I mean idk why people think Jay would do something differently lol. People put too much hope in this guy in this types of contexts and I’m not sure why.

Target is easy for me to boycott cause it's like across town from me on a busy ass street that I hate. Plus everything there can be got cheaper at really any other place.
thread fulla whataboutisms
The boycott started after the 2024 elections and this album came out after so yeah

Ya mans Slim Shady also has vinyls at target too…
You're not getting me.
Has any rapper specifically made they s*** exclusive to Target after the boycott?
I know you'll think I'm hating because I very publicly dont like Jay Z (and I dont blame you), but this is off considering his history, man.

Ppl vastly underestimate the amount of power and leverage the black bourgeois have in America
Even “billionaires” in the likes of Jay and Kanye own only small percentages of whatever deals they own and such, they don’t actually have the mass of capital to build and compete with the horizontal and vertical level of integration that’s required at high levels of industry.
Even Kanye couldn’t just up and start mass producing Yeezys again at the same rate and quality as his Adidas deal once that fell through
At best they’re like managerial figures over the reproduction of capitalist relations it’s not the same as someone like Elon Musk or Bill Gates
such lazy artwork, a pity
