Zendaya has never sold me on a role she's played. Her performances always came across as far too labored and insincere. But maybe that also has to do with the material she worked with. So to those who've seen this one was she serviceable?
I'm also skeptical of Austin Butler.
I haven't seen this yet but you know that Zendaya DEFINITELY serves GURL

Wasn’t a fan of her in Euphoria? I absolutely thinks she deserves the awards she received for that role

"Once in a generation Sci-fi masterpiece" he says in this.
It's crazy cuz I'm so excited to see it, but I only saw Part 1 on the Reissue. I'm fresh into this. Feel like a poser sometimes, but man the world has this magnetism that I think makes it sort of genre-less. Not fantasy, not sci-fi, but something else

It’s familiar and distant. Names like Paul and it’s the year 25000 or whatever but also has s*** like the mentats. Plus more that I’ve heard about and have not seen.
Think I pick up the books after this one because Messiah probably isn’t coming until at least 2028.
I definitely feel the Two Towers comparison the most
That’s the best LOTR movie tho
Based
How was it?
Fell asleep lol. Still got 30 minutes left. It’s campy af and def hasn’t aged well. But it’s cool to see some of the inspo Denis got from it. I’m a big David lynch fan so it’s been interesting at least

That’s what struck me the most when it saw it. Jessica, Paul, Duncan are all normal 2024 names. But then you get Rabban, Feyd-Rautha (which maybe names in other cultures forgive me if they are). The fusion of sci fi and fantasy doesn’t seem so much like a fusion, it’s just an original work I’m starting to understand.
The familiar and distant aspect you mentioned hits it in the head.

Man crafted a wild world… dune heads have always been out there but i bet nowadays they’re feeling very powerful, lol.

If you can't write good dialogue that's a you problem
Movies are nothing without standout characters that get you engaged based on their personalities, something you need good dialogue to pull off

Silent Night out now
I thought the first Dune was very much style over substance, a movie that looked and sounded pretty but didn’t really have much going on underneath the surface. With that being said I’m still very hype for Part Two because there is a lot of potential there to follow through on the setup created with Part One
Also his dialogue rhetoric might explain why I feel like Part One was all style and no substance. It’s just odd though because this is the same guy that made Prisoners.
A very weird take to have though as a director, dialogue has always been crucial and essential in film

I don’t get this. I thought they had a ton of substance and at times wish I read the book because they gave so much info in the first movie.
I think you’ll enjoy part 2 more for sure though.

I just rewatched it today actually and I still feel the same way. Also, there’s so much info given but a good chunk of it is never really articulated to a non-book reader. Not saying he should’ve went Star Wars Prequels with the exposition, but there’s times where Part One really feels like a sequel to a first movie more than the first movie itself
torrents outhere already
Please point me in the right direction
I’ve seen it already and going again Thursday but I need to see it more now
