I still remember the convo around the first one after it opened during covid. Some were saying covid affected its numbers while others were saying there’s no interest and it’s another Denis flop like BR2049
So it’s nice to see Denis get this win
yall hear about the leak of the alia casting
played by anya taylor joy in vision or something
apparently its her voice at the end of trailer 3 saying u not prepared bro

Yep a lot people were definitely still hesitant to go the movies when Dune came out, not to mention the movie dropped on HBO Max at the same time
And considering the general public had no idea what Dune really was back when it first came out, I’m not surprised that it wasn’t a giant box office smash
But now the franchise has gained a lot of new fans these last couple years, and I’m sure a lot of people regret not seeing Part One in theaters.
So I’d imagine this will have a really good box office run in theaters
Denis should give him the leading role in one of his movies . Dave definitely deserves leading roles now

CINEMA IS BACK
oppenheimer
got my imax ticket tonight in presale. no f***ing 3d release here this time, thank f***ing god
Just saw the Reissue for the first time.
It was really enthralling. I was hooked from the first couple scenes. Cinematog, acting, music all good. Plot and pacing was also well structured.
Special note to the Voice. When his mom did it on the ship when they were taking them to the desert, I was spooked lowkey. That was nightmare fuel. Also a lot of horror imagery I found compelling and unique.
about a third into the book and s*** is fire
That final third is beautiful af, def make sure you finish before you see the movie if you can
Just saw dune 1 again
s*** is so f***ing fire. Idc that “nothing happens” the directing, the lore. It’s all so f***ing cool. Not a boring moment
What did they show at the end of the re-release? I had to dip when the credits rolled

A scene that shows Paul riding a sand worm
i really hope this movie ends up becoming a worldwide phenomenon. we need a decade defining franchise that is new and refreshing to get out of this post-pandemic slump (at least we had Oppenheimer and Barbie last year)
I saw Dune Part 1 in theater just to hear the difference and my god. I already fell in love with the Bene Gesserit but now I'm a stan. The mantras are so intense, they conveyed that the moment the sisters are present, they're inside your head and can see everything.
i made 3 to 4 attempts to finish the book but could never go past 60%
even the movie when i watched it the first time i thought was ok but somehow i ended up revisiting it 2 more times and liked it better each time. the world building, art direction etc is so tactile and well realised.
i think this might be one of the rare cases where im invested in the movie over the book.
