huge blockbusters are usually ridiculously high to buy/rent when they first come out on digital, it’ll go down in like a month and then down even lower in 2/3 months

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me

U thinking Paul is cool isn’t really an issue, his character fundamentally is cool in a bad ass type of way. But imo the movie definitely folded making him sympathetic and implying he’s just following Jessica down a dark path instead of wanting to do it himself. He’s not supposed to be a good guy, so if u mean cool=good guy then that’s where someone might think u missed the point. Which I say is more on the movie making him too sympathetic than u personally missing the point.

Movie didn't really commit to what they wanted him to be to the audience. It didn't feel like we were witnessing a slow decent into darkness

From what I understand of all the events, current and future, Paul isn't evil, he's selfish. Selfish and vengeful. The path he takes is what's best for him and his people. Even if it comes at the expense of billions.

To put your own vengeful beliefs and small group of loved ones over the lives of billions who have nothing to do with you is pretty evil bro. All Paul coulda done was like move to another planet and live a simple life in hiding, his life was spared. He chose to use the propaganda to his benefit and start a war so he could gain power and vengeance.

Exactly
Really my only issue with the film
I have a completely different interpretation of Paul than what I’m seeing here but that’s signs of good presentation of him in my eyes
My sympathy with Paul comes from the burden of paths that was set for him as soon as he was born . Stopping the genocide of your people through extreme violence is technically selfish….. sure . I just feel the fact that he did so much to avoid stepping down that path , but once he did he saw no other option for that specific goal. He also seemed sad asf or detached to me during the final act at certain parts as if he disliked certain actions he was taking.
Defining him as just good or evil is just too simple
Also this isn’t based on anything in messiah
