I disagree. I think Zendaya absolutely could’ve been replaced by a Taylor Russell or whoever, but she still delivered what she was supposed to.
I honestly can’t think of too many actors of Timothee’s age that would’ve felt as powerful after he took The Water of Life.
No idea what The Batman has to do with this
unless you’re saying that they should’ve gone for actors with less star power for those roles?
That’s what I’m saying yes . I mentioned Anton yelchin but unfortunately dead . I don’t know enough of the new school but I think timothee and Tom are both overused for what they are
Which is all of why I say I wish young star power wasn’t limited to white people because it limits the faces we see on screen and they often not hungry enough for me because they handed roles
Also part of why I often mention tv because TV is filled with faces we have never seen before on the big screen who are genuinely better actors and actresses then a lot of these people in movies. Same reason Elric @Elric mentioned game of thrones. Even a fantasy story that I normally wouldn't fully be gripped by I was because of actors and actresses that often dont get big movie roles.
Star Power and hollywood machine elevates who they want regardless of amount of talent. It is the way it is . Timothee got paid millions for this movie with a likely box office deal and you want me to act like his performance can't be critiqued?
It's fire to see this blowing up and getting the attention it deserves. This is really our generation's Star Wars
70mm lol this all started when I posted the theater I saw it at is doing final day of 70mm. Then I talked some about the highs and lows. Glad I saw it before 70mm gone . I got a friend who is seeing it a 6th time and she like “ I’m sick “ I’m like to not be passionate about anything is the true sickness . I’m glad nerds loving it . I actually hope success of imax and 70mm leads to more of those type of theaters being made especially real imax
70mm hits different forsure
Same
I feel like a normal theater would have really undersold that movies magic for me so I am glad I did. I am going to try to always 70mm on major movies when option is given because most of IMAX around is is not IMAX
Green Room
The worst deaths are when they had more to give us
he had so much more to give us . When actors and actresses die young it hurts for that reason (besides Pedo Paul Walker) because they could really be leading the genre of film right now . Many of these casting choices are lazy , uninspired and tedious. Rather than seeing new faces shine. That is why I tend to lean on tv where they care more about earned emotional moments than looking pretty because they are forced to do so.
I am glad a movie like Beau is Afraid was made and got Joaquin but also has some faces I have never seen before with emotive performances . It feels like so much of recent movies is major movie SNL hosting some corny interviews but like not enough heart in the actual work on screen
That is just me though
Anton Yelchin was special man
him & Cate Blanchett were my dream casts for Paul/Jessica when I first read it, he was the only actor of his age range back then who had the juice
Cuaron was always my main director pick, also wondered if District 9-era Blomkamp could have pulled it off then too. would’ve both had insanely different visions

Alfonso Cuaron ? you know ball. I mean when the focus gets to be primarily on blockbuster s*** happens. Shrug its rare my favorite movie is a whole hearted blockbuster . I am hyped for Furiosa though cause I liked Mad Max and have a friend who worked on Mad Max Fury Road.
District 9 blomkamp was special but like hollywood kind of tried to sign him to halo and so many things at once rather than let him breathe
District 9 is a clear example of people I dont know as well filling a cast and knocking it out of the park. I miss movies like that man
Soul is fading

straight up man, I feel what ever the opposite of gatekeeping with this
I see my younger cousins wanting to read the first book & it’s so great to see something get kids wanna back into this sorta world again

If this leads to more people reading and appreciating the series that is truly dope. Use their imagination some and get ahead of the movies

Children of Men has some of the best world building done in any movie ever, it’s insane how effortless he made it feel there. he has a great world view & would fit well with portraying the world & culture of the Fremen too. He’s proven he has the fantasy element down too with his harry potter movie too
District 9 definitely feels like lightning in a bottle tho, that’s another one that has insane world building. every element came along & worked perfectly in the moment, Blomkamp has a great sci-fi vision but I feel like Peter Jackson was key in shaping that. Copley’s improv lowkey carried it in hindsight too, feel like that’s a big reason why it hit as well as it did
I’m sorta mixed his choice to make a prequel but yeah Furiousa’s gonna be great, only ever seen Thunderdome & Fury Road so I’m hoping to catch up on 1 & 2 before it drops

Children of Men was so so special man . What a great movie. That cast acted their asses off but it flopped commercially technically with 70 million. Some of the best movies filled with the best actors are commercial flops and thats sad man. I get people vote with their dollars but I have grown to lose a lot of confidence in the movie watching public over recent years
Because they prop up a lot of bullshit and hate on new inventive ideas and weirdness. I like Dunes weirdness . I actually wish it leaned even more into its weirdness but maybe in future movies and I need to read more of the books.
I would love an Isaac Asimov movie adaptation from someone but I can just watch the Apple TV show I hear good things
I am also mixed on prequel but in for George Miller

100%, it’s definitely gotten the rep it deserves over the years. It was a big formative movie for me growing up & feel like it’s been that for our whole generation, definitely the closest equivalent we have to a modern Blade Runner, (started out a cult classic + it being so prescient in culture/society). I do agree about audiences not supporting the right movies generally but i’m feeling a small shift over the past few years now tho, people are definitely getting sick of the same old s*** they used to go out for
definitely agreed on the lack of weirdness when I first saw Pt 1 too but I just went with the flow & sorta settled with Denis’ vision over repeat viewings. By the time Pt. 2 came around I was fully onboard with his world. ik it isn’t a perfect adaptation but it’s pretty damn close & just works so well as a movie that I can kinda overlook the constructive criticisms I have towards it

Yeah and overlook the constructive criticism is all I am saying. will always have constructive criticism but will still support. Not something I personally want a physical of but its a cool world. Would love an anime expansion of the book world more than live action. I think live action for some story telling is actually limiting and cost more than telling more emotive stories with cartoons.
Round 6 was still a classic. Might actually be my new favorite movie. Dune doubters lost. Doubters can go eat sand
“My planet Arrakis is so beautiful when the sun is low.”

Man I can’t wait to see that movie.
this s*** was not it
