warner brothers.. greenlight a blade runner 2049 sequel...... give Denis billions and creative control to do what he wants
I picked up a Brian Herbert Dune book from the library yesterday. I'm 30 pages in but I'm giving up
returning it later today.
Go for the audiobook. It's pretty good and a bit more engaging with actors for different characters.
absolute greatness, never seen anything better. that second act when he just accepts his messianic fate

Never going to happen. Ridley disliked 2049 (probably because it's better than any Ridley flick this millenium) and is doing a tv series set in 2099 without Denis's involvement.
My guess is he follows this up with Cleopatra and then Messiah.

I think both of Ridley's Alien prequels being less warmly received than 2049 didn't help.
He doing it right now which is funny
imo it sounded like he was speaking specifically about the Blade Runner universe that Ridley Scott created and any similar universes that are already fully formed, fleshed out, and aesthetically consistent. He had do adhere and adapt to what came before instead of taking it in his own direction.
It wasn't his world in the way that Dune is his world. Obviously it had a previous cinematic presence but it's not like he was making a follow-up to the Lynch version, nor was there any need for him to carry over anything over from it. Sure he's adapting from a book, but he essentially had a blank canvas to do whatever he wanted.

just rewatched the first one and i liked it alot more this time around
So after watching pt 2 and a rewatch of pt 1this is the best epic blockbuster cinematic series. I like pt 1 is like an epic arthouse movie. It’s more quieter and patience with its dialogue and pacing. Visually there’s some great scenes you wouldn’t expect to see in a movie like this. Pt 2 storytelling is more epic and visually more grand. I think pt 2 is gonna have a more mainstream appeal. It’s easier to watch for a lot of people. I liked how pt 2 integrated the new cast of actors. You don’t feel the actors that died or moved to smaller roles from the first one really missed because the new actors give a great performance. Artistically I like how both movies show restraint from one another.
So on one hand I’m like yeah can’t wait for pt 3, but I’m also like I don’t want to ruin this cinematic experience of these two movies. I know warner bros want to f*** the f*** out of dune. They probably want to make spin offs and prequels and make it their Star Wars. But I don’t Denis to be stuck making dune movies like how James Cameron is with avatar. I think it’ll be harder for him to walk away from dune than a sicario.
