I mean I hate the streaming release model for sure, but Dune doesn't need awards for validation. Also, lets be real, Denis would never get a Best Director nomination for something like Dune.
if WB wanted to though, they easily could just push back the release 1 week and give it that theatrical run
damn this sucks
WB screwed themselves

It's not about needing validation necessarily, but as artist, a lot of times you do wanna see your hard worked on art get acknowledged in these types of means. And something as simple as not giving the film a proper theatrical run can be annoying af.

I agree with that but this isn’t like some project being worked on by guys who need help or support. These are all some of the most successful professionals in the world working on this movie. I think it’s cool to see a big movie get nominations but I feel the value of these award ceremonies has always been to recognize the talent of those who are going under the radar.
End of the day, what makes Dune a success is the box office, not awards. As in, I’m sure they want to get a 2nd movie made.

Yea but artist don't view it that way, it's not "oh s*** we needed these awards to get help or support" it's more so "Damn we worked so hard on this, it's nice to see the recognition from across the board".....ultimately it doesn't change the success of the film, it's more so that bonus cherry on top for the Artist is all.
Those awards don’t matter to me, love having the option of seeing a movie at home or at the theatres
Watching this on HBO MAX on my Iphone first night
What? This movie isn't even out LOL
Bro what the hell is this??!
🤨
Bro what the hell is this??!
humongous L for americunts
releasing september 16 here
Personally I think Theaters should get the exclusive for at least one month. A month is plenty of time for people to go catch a movie in theaters if they want to, then after release it on VOD
In America there's really no reason outside of industry pettiness and greed for movies to release in theaters before streaming, much less make it a requirement for consideration in nothing-awards.
