I’m joking lmao. But cant see why someone wouldn’t like it tbh.
Seriously though? You really can’t see why? Cmon
Everybody here just seemed bored
This was such a disappointment
Denis Villeneuve was not the right guy to direct this.
Very grey, washed out and dreary. Boring characters with boring performances. I didn’t give a s*** about a single character in this film. also, barely anything really happens. It was honestly a challenge to push myself through this
I will say there were some nice shots but that’s about it
Lynch had the better dune film unfortunately. I really wanted to like this, especially after being impressed with BR 2049
I hope part 2 redeems it
This damn near my exact review.
its been Lynch from day 1
this was still cool though
Man the Lynch movie was dogshit lmao

Grew up watching it so you can't convince me this is true

It’s not that good but I’d still take it over this s***
Why you not getting cooked
why I get cooked for saying this but nicer
No one gives a s*** anymore, you should’ve waited a while longer
It’s not that good but I’d still take it over this s***

What did you like so much about it? I’m asking honestly
I didn’t read the book btw. I’ve heard that people who read the book enjoyed this more, but a good adaption doesn’t require to read its source material

(I know you didnt ask me but) this movie only covers the early parts of the book. It's kinda like an intro and I feel like It introduced the world in a really cool and concise way with great direction and ambience in every scene. I didn't dive into the book until after my watch but you can feel that its a lot of story left which makes sense cause it only ends halfway through the book

Incredible worldbuilding and visuals. I loved how well paced it was. I found the characters to be quite gripping especially with Lady Jessica and Chalamets character. And I actually loved how plotless it was. So many times these sci fi stories have to follow a generic A to B plot and it always tanks everything else going on. Denis just allows this to be a slow paced mystifying work that at heart is about exploring a new world, the relations between the different factions, and the Altreides dynamic and Paul’s growth rather than turning into a generic story we’ve seen over and over again. In the theaters, it looks like a big immersive movie but at home it feels really artistic and I love that Denis was able to showcase spectacle in such a way unlike something like Gravity which is just unwatchable at home
There’s just a lot of really stunning sequences throughout the film and Denis is amazing at really immersing you with very creative cinematography. I’ve never read the book either so I don’t get that comment
movies a classic don’t get any of the hate honestly
the visuals, sense of scale, the pacing, the setting, backstory, the universe seems interesting
overall so good
Can’t judge this till I see part two but ngl that one specific scene with the pipes had me hyped in theaters

After part 2 comes out, part 1 will be much more appreciated
People complain that this film lacks action or resolution , but all of the world building and set up is necessary and will be appreciated once the whole story comes out

yeah definitely it's a long very dense story
still missing the climax so it feels a little hollow but yeah if they do as good of a job with the last half it's going to be an epic 5 hour telling of the story
