    Manga readers— worth reading?

Or should I just blind it anime only for the rest of movies

Volumes came through today and I finished it! If you really can’t wait like I couldn’t then it’s worth it.

Some of the intense action panels can be a bit difficult to follow but it’s still great. If you do decide to wait and ufotable keep the same animation standards of Infinity Castle or higher, man 😮‍💨…

Teens don't care about superhero s*** as much anymore. Most people at those movies are in their 20s or 30s from what I've observed. Anime hasn't lost the young audience.

Yeah, a new gen getting introduced during the 2020s has done wonders. Also helps that anime movies are beginning to be more accessible.

Calls had to be made to stop the new era. Competition better be stiff (pause) for the next one cuz this is the weakest movie in the trilogy.

Just watched the movie and god damn did it go on for to long

  • Oct 26, 2025

Saw it last week although I was so tired I kept fading in & out for a lot of the first 3rd of the film

The Akaza backstory was good but it still had the issue I've felt with the majority of the Demon Slayer Demon backstories, a sudden backstory drop as they're about to die can't have as much impact as they want it to because there isn't enough foreshadowing or subtle humanization of the Demon's prior to their deaths & sudden backstory drop, it always feels shoehorned in to force the characters to hold more emotional weight.

With Akaza there were moments to suggest that he may value life a bit more than other Demon's (in his own way) & that he had come to value strength extremely highly but without the heavy handed backstory being added, these points don't have enough power or develop enough to even warrant much of a theory or deeper dive into them.

It could be argued that the story has been extremely lean & thus didn't have enough time to develop the Demon's enough but we can't give passes. I didn't give JJK any passes for its rushed ending & unanswered plot points.

I'm looking forward to Kokushibo's back story eventually coming out & it tying into Yoriichi's backstory but even still, we haven't really been given enough reason up to have any strong feelings towards him

finally finished that damn training arc, only the last two episodes were relevant

    would've saved me some time

so this leads into the movies, refresh my memory, all of muzan ranked members dead?

Only the top three (starting from top left) are left with an additional member.

Nah, the replacement is the additional member. That was my way phrasing that without going in to detail since it’s revealed in the movie they’re about to watch

This was almost as good as Collateral with Tom Cruise, but not quite. They couldnt match characterization of Vincent and the subtleties that make up the layers of his personality. Just one note caricatures really. This one's the big t*** one. Shes known for big t*** and her sisters dead. So I guess theres at least two things about them rather than just one.

My anime nerd side in me gives it a cool rating, but objectively the story is just leaving a massive empty feeling that couldnt keep me on the edges like Collateral did. I saw many relationships that wanted to be deep, but looks like a blind man in a house of distorted mirrors at a carnival compared to the intertwined web between Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx's characters in collateral. The villaisn were also empty husks of murder, and while Tom Cruise in Collateral is also a hollow killer, he fills the pages with knowledge and interests from a variety of subjects, adding to the subtext that this villain is more than just a bipedal chainsaw. This is truly where I saw Demon Slayer: infinity Castle really fell below the bar I had set for it with my recent viewing of Collateral.

4/10 compared to the 8.62/10 action thriller film Collateral.

I can't lie the story is a bit one note, I know flashbacks are an anime trope, but boy does this overuse it, it becomes a bit cheap if every villain's arc is resolved through a flashback sequence, Akaza's one was good, but we've seen this style of storytelling with pretty much every villain we've seen that's been given any real characterisation, too much of the story happens outside the story itself. Also, the 1st hour really didn't need to be in the movie, should've just stuck that at the end of the last season.

This is pretty but a lot of the choreography of the fights does kind of feel hollow, it feels like I'm watching turn-based fights a lot of the time, The fighting feels sort of like a procedural. I want to like this more, but there are things about this that leave me disappointed a lot of the time I watch this. It's really carried by the visual direction for me, it's nice on the eyes.

I've enjoyed Demon Slayer but I feel like it's fair to consider it the most overrated highly popular anime around

Definitely has many great moments but it misses something for me
The last minute humanisation of every Demon does seem very lazy, I would have much more investment in those characters if their humanity was properly hinted at through their actions while demons, as it stands pretty much every evil demon is completely evil and unredeemable during their time as a demon, only after they get the late last-minute flashback do they gain emotional weight.

Akaza not wanting to kill Rengoku was something as it suggests he had some value for life & humans with strength but in pretty much every other case the writing falls short.

I'll be at the cinema for the next two films aswell but I still feel quite let down by Demon Slayer. It does feel very 'paint by the numbers' at times.

Also, the 'breathing styles' not being visible will eternally be the stupidest idea ever, there's no reason to not have that added magical element to the story given that the characters still undertake all the actions. It doesn't provide realism or grounding like they may thought it would. We still have characters performing beyond superhuman feats & demons using blood demon art magic, so there's reason no reason to not commit to the breathing styles being visible.
If anything, remove the added art of them if realism and grounding is the aim. But this story would not survive without the amazing art.
