that album was so bad man. like government plates level s***
Yeah I actually did peer through like the first 4 songs or so but I donāt remember any s*** from em lmao
The Fear is some of Rideās greatest and most personal songwriting ever. But people donāt really care about his lyrics on Steroids either even though itās some of his best cus no one is really listening closely to what heās saying like that given these āteen angstā comments. The way a lot of you view this band and Ride in general is very off to me
And the way people write off Snitch as some self parody album will never ever make sense to me. Being tongue in cheek and self aware is not parody, especially when theyāre constantly sampling their old material on the album

Ride's an absolute genius. One of the best lyricists oat no joke. Its just that the music is so angsty when honestly if they toned it down a bit itd have more impact

At least we agree on that. But the angst is not teenage angst though, itās much more than that. And i would argue for the most part Snitch is that toning down. I think the hyper aggressive sound and approach has always come from a genuine place, especially for Ride. His writing has never felt contrived to me
Iāve never gotten the idea Rideās making a joke or light of himself for the audience, even when heās going for a comedic tone or line. Or that Zachās direction is one of āangstā, more that itās where they all are most comfortable exploring sounds and direction. Zach has been making these kind of extreme sounds for a decade+ before DG
I was listening to TMS for the first time in a while the other day and I forgot how f***ing perfect it is

While I love their sound on Bottomless Pit/Jenny Death, if they are dropping, I hope its something we've never seen from them before

hell no
I do not want death grips #1: hopping on whats popping whether its whats the wave in the undeground or not
#2: doing bubblegum music like gecs. That s*** not even true to the spirit of the band, its really focused on being grimy and heavy

I really wish they expanded on this sound but made it more funky
