Gonna be completely honest. Never listened to a de la soul album. Would this be a good introduction or start from their debut? I tried listening to them before and the few songs I heard didn’t really grab me.

This album is really picking up steam track by track

Gets even better
This album is a ray of sunlight for these cold dark times. The world needed this. This feels like the last Tribe album, and I mean that as a very high compliment. Yesterday was Phife's birthday. Today De La Soul dropped. The universe feels the presence of The Native Tongues. RIP Phife. RIP Dave. De La Soul Is Alive.
Hope people support this so it gets a chance to be nominated for the Grammy's in 2027, incredible body of work
Gets even better
This is already one of the best albums I’ve heard all year
Black Thought wow
I’m surprised seeing how many people have never listened to a De La Soul album. They’re one of the all time great and important groups. I think the fact that they hadn’t been on streaming services for so long kind of kept an entire generation from listening to them, which is incredibly sad. Go back and listen to their albums in order because they are as important to Hip-Hop as Tribe, Wu Tang, etc..
Oh yeah, and RIP to Plug 2.

Yeah and I believe it was all calculated as a part of the agenda to remove consciousness from rap
De La is really important to the variety of rap aesthetics and content, they came out in the 80s and were accepted by the street and grassroots
Erasing them from history helps enforce the idea of “mainstream vs alternative” which allows them to belittle rap that isn’t hyper masculine as uncool
De La was that important but their importance has been drastically reduced and there’s nothing we can do. They will never be indicted to the rock and roll hall, while Tribe and Kast already are. they will never get the flowers they deserve outside of a niche in hip hop
Everybody who hasn't listened, please, go back and hear their debut. And any accompanying albums to the sound/scene at the time (i.e. all tribe called quest albums, jungle brothers, digable planets, souls of mischief, pharcyde, etc) you will not regret it. At the very least, you'll sharpen your musical palette and understand more of the development of rap as an art form

They had a lot of bad label issues/sample clearance stuff too tho
