Love Beast Boy but he doesn't have the power to lead a whole show

Doom Patrol feels like a chore to get through when they get all sappy, introspective and emotional (first season or two it worked great but then it became a repetitive formula), but then things get goofy and I remember why I enjoyed it in the first place.
