Holy f***, I finally beat Genichiro and this mf is resurrected
I'm gonna have to fight him again later
Took me like 5 hours of trying too, I don't think I've ever been that stuck before
It was really only his 2nd stage that was a problem for me though. I got plenty of hitless runs during the first stage but I didn't really understand blocking the lightning attacks in the 2nd stage. I know they explained it, for whatever reason it wasn't clicking for me. But then it did and I beat him like 3 tries later after figuring it out.
Combat is starting to make sense too. I'm starting to get the rhythm and flow that they want.
you'll become a better player once you beat him
This some f***ing bs just realized you don’t hit illusory walls to open them in DS2
done with damn near 90% of the game i thought these messages were capping
Posting in here bc this thread is more active, I'm playing Sekiro and beat Blazing Bull and have basically headed in four different directions but have got stuck at each, if I was able to get to this point should I stick with the game? I'm kinda lost and am getting sick of dying but maybe I just need to quit the game for a day or something. For perspective the only other From game I've played is Bloodborne, had a lotta fun with it but I summoned for maybe half the bosses

Bro I swear, I was slamming my sword on walls with the text in front of them until I reached Iron Keep

You’re probably going the wrong way have you beat a pinnacle boss yet? I’ll just say look up. You’re basically at the point of the game where it really starts. I say keep going because it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had playing a video game but that’s just me. And breaks are fine. Sometimes I would take a week break and come back feeling refreshed. It’s a game not an obligation.

Use the fextralife game progress route guide. It helped me immensely without spoiling anything tbh. I’d say out of all fromsoft ware games the route in sekiro was the most confusing
Dark souls 2 is so f***ing long
I agree, already beat the game at release and it still took me like 60 hours to beat the game and one of the dlcs, still have two more to go

yeah I haven't played since original release (had mad playthroughs and builds), but I'm going through SOTFS rn, like SL160 and just finished the Dragon Aerie.
I kicked Lady Butterfly's but I still can't beat Genichiro. Got so close to staggering him on his second phase then got f***ing lightning shot
you finished sekiro too?
I was living through the dialogue options and playing the game, accidentally did the ending where you don’t fight any of the hardest bosses and just fight one last guy and it’s over
Gonna start it back up in a few weeks because I’m dying to play it again anyway, but also to actually do the last bosses and say that I’ve played the damn game instead of missing on the most talked about bosses
How do you rank From Software games?
Bloodbourne
DS3
Sekiro
DS1
DS2
Demons souls
throughly THROUGHLY enjoyed playing every single one though. Intend on playing them many times
how about you

final fight extremely gratifying once you beat him
Playing DS3 again with a strength/faith build + Vordt's Great Hammer. This is a breeze tbh

Pretty solid list. Have yet to play BB but honestly DS1 could've easily been the best one imo, just feel like post-anor londo the quality drops quite a bit. DS3 definitely feels the more consistent tho and the highs are amazing

I played them all in order as they released and I can tell you that the DS2 hate is way overblown. DS1 fans were hype on DS2 and we all liked it a lot. Sure it’s missing the amazing interconnectedness of DS1 (so is DS3) and the levels sometimes don’t coherently match one another but that’s really not that big of a deal. DS2 also did a lot of innovative things that DS3 backtracked on.
DS3 is more thematically coherent with its level design but it also makes it a little bland IMO and feels like it’s missing some of the high fantasy areas that DS1 had like the Ash Lake. Where as DS2 didn’t really concern itself with coherent design but the high variety of environments made it really cool to explore and it’s so long that’s it feels like a giant adventure across a huge landscape.
Sekiro is cool to me but I prefer the RPG elements of soulsborne.

official tier list for those with garbage taste in games
In all seriousness this series is probably the most goated series, literally no bad games. People like to hate on DS2 but i’d say it’s just as good as DS1, just does things differently and has some weird design decisions
