In hindsight, it’s quite commendable what Kendrick did with blending his vintage writing and themes with a more pop orientated sound. Big Steppers was not it for me and I haven’t really gone back, maybe in the future.
Shouts out to the future
Man what
damn is a grillion times better just for duckworth and fear alone none of morale has a song that level

Mother I Sober would like a word.
Although it doesn’t really matter to me who chooses which album because they’re both great to me. I don’t view anyone with a bias for picking one or the other, I just keep it in mind for future discourse.
They're probably fairly close tbh, I wouldn't judge anyone for either. MM feels like highers highs and lower lows, but damn is his best attempt at finding a middle ground
Which Mr Morale songs are better than DNA, XXX and FEAR?
Father Time, Count Me Out, We Cry Together, Mother I Sober, Silent Hill

Let’s speak again when the hype of new Kendrick wears off
Even FEAR?
Yeah I also used to play FEAR until I could sing along to it backwards so the novelty of the new songs help them out a lot

Backwards? Nation?

Lol yeah I just replied to someone else about that. The novelty of the new songs does a lot

Damn.
Backwards!?

Father Time, Mr Morale and Mother I Sober the only songs that could compete with the DAMN cuts imo and I’m not even sure if those songs will be very replayable when the hype wears off
Edit: Count me out is dope too
Even FEAR?
FEAR is one of the best wdym by this?

I feel like a lot of people forget/ignore some of the deep cut rap tracks on here and just remember the hits DAMN gave. like the dude just spits on some tracks
FEAR is one of the greatest rap songs of all time, Kendrick wasn’t even rapping like that on MM
Father Time, Count Me Out, We Cry Together, Mother I Sober, Silent Hill
Them songs ain't better than XXX & FEAR
We Cry Together bro?
Say this next May

Why do you insist on comparing the impact of tracks when these new ones will grow into their own
I feel like a lot of people forget/ignore some of the deep cut rap tracks on here and just remember the hits DAMN gave. like the dude just spits on some tracks
That’s true. DAMN has some amazing deep cuts with FEEL, PRIDE, LUST, XXX & FEAR.
But some of the deep cuts on Mr. Morale are neck and neck in quality.
Why do you insist on comparing the impact of tracks when these new ones will grow into their own
The moment I heard Out Of Time I knew it was top tier Weeknd, the moment I heard Puffin on Zooties I knew it was top tier Future, the moment I heard When Sparks Fly I knew it was top tier Vince. I didn’t feel this way about any of the new Kendrick joints, Mother I Sober is amazing storytelling but it isn’t a very listenable song tbh, Father Time is a dope rap song but is it really that special? etc etc
Which Mr Morale songs are better than DNA, XXX and FEAR?
These are all great I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe throw DUCKWORTH. in there
