Not imo, & its sound is off from the rest of it to me too (although lyric wise it fits).
I never liked it since it debut, & kendrick is top 5 for me & #1 of the 2010s, been listening since KLEP.
I respect the message n inspo of kk tho.
If anything Alright sounds more off than King Kunta in my opinion. The Alright drums sound a lot colder than the rest of the album which I feel has relatively warm, a***og sounding drums.
nope 8/10 at best
My only issue with y’all rating Damn 8/10 is there is a lot of other s*** y’all rate 8/10 that ain’t even half as good
Love DAMN. Amazing production and songwriting. Some of Kendrick's best performances. Over hated bc it doesn't line up with people's idea of what a Kendrick album should be.

facts, I think it's easily some of his best music and performances on there. Undervalued because it's not as conceptually tight as gkmc and TPAB and poppier. It's for slightly different reasons but it's just as much of a masterpiece tbh

Exactly 😆
GOD.'s existence and the annoying ass intro and outro to DUCKWORTH. make this untrue imo
The way the sample comes in though how you not like it not judging but DAMN.

bumping an 11 month old post, DAMN.
oh the way the actual sample starts is fantastic, i'm talking about the DJ spoken word stuff
I just don't like how the music comes to a full stop for the DJ to shout some pithy stuff before the actual sample begins, kinda feels like they're forcing it to be more grand of an album closer than it really is
and then yeah whenever DUCKWORTH. is the rotation the outro is just straight up annoying, like I don't want to hear that high pitched reversed sped up audio like every time I listen to it in the car lol

That's what mixtape DJs did in the early 2000s. Kendrick wanted it to feel like a mixtape
S*** was 7/10 for me when it came out but it did a TLOP and aged well in a short span of time and turned to 8.5 for me

hot take: CMIYGL did the DJ hosting an album thing way better than DAMN
