I was just heading out of the gym tonight and I saw a girl in a car pull in. She was blaring loud ass music and as I was walking past I noticed it was PND's "Welcome to the Party". PartyNextDoor's first tape is honestly so goat. I feel lucky to be alive and witness its release. Some s*** I just ride around and bump at night, one hand on the wheel one hand on my chin thinking about life. Like, Welcome To The Party is one of the best intros to a tape that I've ever heard. Soon as the bass hits, I just think about bursting my hands through double swinging doors to a dimly lit nightclub. Puttin my shades in my suit pocket and s***. Neon lights illuminating the smoke traveling through the air. Wild B****es sounding something serious. Party's 808 game is f***ing fuego smh. Then the transition to Relax With Me to bring the mood a little bit back up. "Hear the claps? That's the instrumental." Took me a few listens to like this one, but man... The chorus is so complex and ever-evolving. You start to just zone out and accept that what you're listening to is low key monumental. You really feel it though on his next track, "Right Now." Way I see it is Party is f***ing around with the best stripper in sauga city. Tryin to convince her to stop stripping so he can put her on game. I don't even think we need to discuss the dancers/cancers breakdown. Easily Top 3 Party moment. Did I mention that Make a Mil has me feeling some type of way? Perfect track to place about halfway through to turn up. Still can't fathom these 808s. His instrumentals are just so unique. Crazy he can sing too tbh, which we hear in Break From Toronto. I can picture dude in the booth recording this, dreads flying everywhere. Looks over at the producer after the first take and just takes his headphones off smiling. If I wasn't settled down enough, he follows with tbh. I wish this song was way longer tbh. It's crazy that dude thinks his passion aint enough because you can definitely hear it in his voice. I have to pause though really quick to talk about Wus Good Curious. When he says, "Hey shorty it's what I'm hear for I'm ready" while the synth and piano are meshing so well over a rumbling bass line. This song is pretty much the apex of beauty. "Poppin champagne over here!" Top 3 Party hooks. That brass in the background. That bassline. Those toms. Drizzy had to come thru with the stimulus package as if this wasn't goat enough. I imagine Drake's verse like he is talking privately to Party at the OVO mansion on a veranda overlooking a crowd of people below. Drake's burning a cigar while talking to party, basically inducting him into the OVO family giving him the initiation speech. Looking at him saying, "one day, this will all be yours." And then Paety finishes this tape with Ballin'. Just reminding the listeners at the very end that dude is gonna continue Ballin' out on a consistent basis. Party blessed so many people with a classic.
