accidentally posted this in the CLB thread (regarding remastering the OG MP3s for the Care Package songs) so i’ll repost here:

okay so i’ve finished remasters of the OG files for Trust Issues, Club Paradise, HOTM, The Motion, GLB, and Jodeci (Jodeci was really just swapping out the outro though)

I Get Lonely vocal mix is too different from final version for me to remaster it

Can I (both versions) are too different from the final version to remaster it

Draft Day mix is too different for me to remaster the OG file

How Bout Now was basically the same from the OG file to the final so i just kept the CP version

My Side was a whole different BPM going from the OG to the CP version so i kept both

just gotta check DITE, Free Spirit, PMM, 4PM & 5AM to work on now

checking DITE rn, now i remember why i deleted the OG MP3. there’s no differences if you lower it by 0.5dB except for the two OB ad libs in the beginning being slightly louder in the OG

4PM won’t cancel out the inverts so i can’t really do anything there. remind me again, did that ever have an official download anywhere or was it ripped from Beats1?

5AM is kinda weird in that the intro & the bridge are the only parts mixed differently, then the piano & the hi hats throughout are like a single sample off, but there’s no volume change at all. so it’s more like a slightly updated mix on Care Package rather than a remaster. not worth it to keep the OG imo unless you can really hear those differences or you’re super into collecting

something else i noticed is that on Cole’s verse of Jodeci Freestyle for the Care Package remaster, there’s reverb that wasn’t there right before he says what would be censored on the clean version, meaning the engineer got lazy & just added the curse words back in on top of the clean version lol
