    Break this down

    If u runnin away from the stuff you’re feeling & gone thru real bad trauma a therapist might help u find the path back & feel comfortable dealing with s***.

    But it’s normal to be going thru s*** in general, the thing that is crucial is to not to cling to anything. Everything is fleeting nd stuff moves so much better when u go with the flow, dnt resist anything that happens. It might be seen as “good”or “bad” but that is really your egos judgement of the situation not the reality.

    I gotta practice this way more myself btw, I get hung up on s*** all the time

    Depends on the sort of thing you're looking for. The typical online apps can work but it's not for everyone, at best it's like a side hustle to work on over time. Getting out of your comfort zone and physically going to places that like involve your hobbies, volunteering, work is another one but I'd definitely say college classes are a good spot to meet new people even if you ain't getting a degree or anything, but that can get expensive.

    @NISMO

    kinda this

    but, i will say this:

    Tbh the best way to meet people, particularly those you want to have a relationship w is to NOT try to find them

    i believe when you try, you round edges of their puzzle piece so that they can "fit" into yours, unaware until much later that the fit was never there to begin w.

    i seem to find ppl that find others that they are truly compatible find them in their own element. this is why bars and cafes dont seem to work if that's not your element. otherwise you end up like my friend. went to bars just to find a girl. found a girl at a bar. they got together. then was always arguing cause she wanted to go out to bars and the like, and he didnt want to do that.

    im not saying you gotta have the same interests. but you gotta be yourself 100% wherever you are or else it comes back to bite you tbh.

    Yeah that's exactly why it's a problem for me and i'm trying to avoid your friend's situation. But me doing my own thing will never have me casually meeting girls

    mindfulness practices can help your relationship to thought and emotion but they can't really affect or change the underlying belief systems / sense of self / insecurities / habits / real things that are happening in our life that are generating the thought patterns / suffering. you need to find a way to challenge those directly through talk therapy / journaling / social relationships + actually changing your life and who you are as a person so that your core identity shifts in a meaningful way so the negative thought patterns and self-identification stops. On top of that we need correct our exercise, sleep, and dietary habits so that we actually meet our organism's needs in a way that leaves us feeling energized and not drained. Trying to use meditation as a panacea to fix mental suffering and neurosis is like trying to bail out a boat with a water bottle. You gotta fix the holes or you're going to sink. There's a reason the fourth noble truth is the eightfold path and not just "meditate more bro". Mindfulness is a useful tool to help us address the issues in our life and yes, meditation can lead to deep insights on the true nature of our existence but they will not put out any flames if your house is on fire.

    @Vietbrah if you feel like you could use therapy you should try it. A lot of people close to me have gone to therapy and I've seen that it's helped them immensely. I only have 2 suggestions if you're serious about going
    1. take your time to shop around a find a therapist who "clicks" with you. It's one of the most important relationships you can enter into and if there isn't a natural resonance and trust between the two of you y'all won't get anywhere. Don't be scared to go for one session somewhere and then switch until you find someone who fits better
    2. if you aren't willing to change who you are as a person in a meaningful way don't expect therapy to do absolutely anything for you.

    I disagree, & have noticed significant changes personally on those levels when I focus on presence. That’s my experience. You cannot change things that are out of your control. Once u let go, unnecessary suffering is transmuted into peace & clarity.

    I am not saying to not take action btw
