Releasing this on digital in 3 days would be the most braindead studio move of all time lmao
They made crazy money and studio contracts . They didn’t expect it to be this
I love reading headlines like these every day
I know it’s popular to hate obsession right now for many reasons but as people that enjoy movies with new concepts this is great . Especially again on one offs with lower budget . Yes it connects to ghost but not getting caught in sequels is major

far better than showing kids backrooms imo
I thought Backrooms was so mild
What would be your concern, in comparison to this movie?
Hereditary inspired a lot of dope s***
Yup, Ari in general has been hugely influential on the genre.
Idk if it’s just me but something about Backrooms felt tonally in line with Beau Is Afraid.

at least obsession has a lesson people can learn from at any age aka loser and codependency bad backrooms got s*** like people eating each other and the lesson to be 'learned' is far more abstract prob something even a 12 yr old wouldnt grasp

Your parents never took you to a scary movie? You never got into a movie you weren’t supposed to be in? Literally a right of passage
I have to see this again.
It’s electric the second time around s*** is just too smooth

Third viewing happening tomorrow night for me

Their parents weren't there with them
maybe they were somewhere else in the theater?

Idk I’m pretty much against everything the kids do these days but movies are probably one of the better places they could be spending their time

Going to Backrooms tomorrow but there’s a sinking feeling that a third Obsession would be a much better treat for the soul
I absolutely loved the movie, by the way.
As someone who has been in relationships that mirrored aspects of this movie at its least extreme (victim blaming, codependency, threats of and actual suicide attempts, general emotional abuse), it made me wince, laugh and feel like garbage all at the same time.
The best parts were when the real Nikki started to come out and the slimy inauthenticity of it all crept into Bear's mind.

I'm seeing Backrooms tomorrow as well. An afternoon showing, right before The Sheep Detectives so I can bounce back and go on with my day.

Backrooms hype I’m just not buying into yet, maybe I’m wrong. Sheep Detective hype however seems to be incredibly real and valid
What a f***ing run man
Probably going to start decreasing this coming weekend but man this is insane to witness
how we feel about Ian?...lowkey feel like a lot of this could have been avoided had he been upfront about him and Nikki hooking up...doesn't mean Bear would have taken it well and may have still been obsessed with Nikki but Ian was a pretty shady friend to both Nikki and Bear (can't knock him for using his wish on a billion dollars though because yeah)
yeah Ian acts concerned about Nikki's mental well being but is it because he actually cares about her or is it bc he's just not diggin how she went from hooking up with him to being so into Bear suddenly?
