it really depends on what youre looking for.
everything south-west from (and including) germany is what most americans expect from europe in regards to culture, architecture, food, etc.
i had some of the best times in eastern europe and even though a lot of americans seem to be a bit scared of eastern europe theres really no reason for it. living costs are really cheap and you have the scammers and pickpockets in every big european city anyway
northern europe is worth a visit if youre into nature and landscapes but living costs are pretty expensive
