He was basically dropped by his label after his first project cuz he didn’t wanna make I love college type music and was more interested in making introspective/underground music. They tried to to turn him to a pure frat/party rapper. Kinda like early mac.

Ya cudi was super picky about who he worked with and kinda always had been. I think he branched out a lot these last couple years cuz he realizes its a way to keep connecting with younger fans.

Facts. The Ye connection helped but it wasn’t that big of a deal back then cuz he was fire regardless. Just made sense he was on the team.
Now, that connection 100% helped keep him poppin after the inevitable falloff tho.
