The first third of Cudi’s album is so heavily influenced by Travs style. Cudi was probably conscious of ensuring the album assimilated with contemporary/popular sounds and in doing so the first third of the project sounds derivative of Travis

The last 2/3rds of the album sound far more in-line with Cudi’s organic style though.

Ultimately it’s a two-way street, Travis took influence from Cudi in his early days and now here we are years later seeing Cudi take influence from Travis.

But let’s not pretend that first part of the album doesn’t give off a heavy Travis influence

Cudi fans are almost as sensitive as the man himself with this kind of stuff I swear, yours (as well as his) own insecurity about this comparison demonstrates some validity to it
