I'm all in for the Drake hate but there's a line
keep it to the songs...
Facts both fan bases have been wilding out lately
yes, a drake feature did more than a dre cosign right
You think a Dre co-sign meant a damn thing in 2011?
Not a drizzy fan but i hope nobody here actually thought he assaulted a disabled person....
Brother these people are still calling him a pedophile with zero evidence
They are Drake haters or kendrick stans or both. You can’t reason with them.

Yes
Think about the audience of Hip Hop at the time People born around 1990. Dr Dre was the most popular producer for like 2 decades dude

Not gonna go there. I'm team Kendrick but not really gonna go stan war... I mostly just hate Drake and his music... and I was only defending him pertaining to the weird allegations regarding the journalist. As far as zero evidence goes, well, technically not true but I'll leave it at that.
Lol I didn’t know he literally cleared this up on stream.. man lock this whole thread up

Bro took him on his first major tour 🤣 y’all love to ignore history
Did you see Kendrick on that tour? I honestly wouldn't have even known about Drake taking him on tour if not for some of his lines bringing it up like on 4PM in Calabasas
I'm sure it gave Kendrick publicity but y'all act like he wouldn't have a career if not for Drake taking him on tour

He would’ve had a career. Drake just accelerated it much more than a Dre co-sign did
Most people’s first exposure to Kendrick Lamar was on Take Care. It wasn’t S.80 or OD. Especially casual fans of rap.
Most of yall are like late teens early 20s. You gotta understand that was 2011 and you weren’t gonna know S.80 unless you actively went looking for info on music like that. Music discourse on social media wasn’t anything like it is today. Only reason I knew about S.80 was cus I was on Niketalk and the old heads on there were feeling it in their music section.
It was Drake putting him on the proper platform to grab attention and then Kendrick capitalizing on it by dropping an incredible album shortly after (with another Drake feature mind you).
Without Drake GKMC wouldn’t have been as widely received as it was
Drake co-sign helped but I personally got into KDot with GKMC, had no idea Drake helped him and I'm pretty sure a large portion of people in my age range got into his stuff in HS with GKMC too... He would've been massive with or without Drake.
GKMC was THE album in my senior year. Everybody was listening to it ya bish

drake put a ton of people onto kendrick and introduced others to kendrick through bringing him on tour. f***in problems probaby doesn't happen without drake bringing them on the club paradise tour for instance. kendrick was gonna be big regardless but to say drake didn't help him is hating

i forget if my first time listening to kendrick was purp and yellow, buried alive interlude, or hood gone love it. i do remember the hype really coming huge and undeniable after swimming pools and the recipe tho still my favorite singles of his to this day

Is the same thing with The Weeknd, Rocky…
Dre cosign happened in 2010/2011
Section.80 did like 5k FW in 2011 (already working with Dre)
Buried alive placement
(Take Care 600k FW),
Club Paradise Tour
F***in Problem / Good Kid came out in the same week
Poetic Justice was the 4th Single
Poetic Justice is Kendrick 20th most streamed song on Spotify right now.
Drake has had a major hand in Kendrick's early exposure there is literally a 2011 tweet of Ab-Soul saying Drake is taking Kenny to the next level, not that he needs the help, but he is doing it.
I'm not disagreeing that he didn't get helped by Drake early on, but the first time his name was even really brought up was when he got cosigned by Dre

I might be slightly undermining Drake's influence a little bit sinxe I've never liked his music but I really do believe GKMC is a massive hit with or without Drake... Drake def turned some eyes though i can't lie
