I finally caved and bought the criterion Chungking Express on ebay, I know the restoration changes aren’t a big deal to some people but the color grading in the remasters just looks objectively worse to me and criterion might put that version on streaming once it releases

why is CE so expensive compared to other releases?

it's not produced anymore and hasn't been since 2012. all the copies are older ones that people are selling and price is just supply & demand

i myself felt the same way about the grading so I bought the crit chungking which conforms with how it was the first time i watched it.
