Bandcamp allows artists to upload albums in different higher quality formats, which is likely what JPEG did, as well as buy versions of those formats. A big reason why I've loved Bandcamp for a decade and some change.
I remember listening to Kamasi Washington's The Epic for the first time in WAV and I nearly nut during the listen.

I dont think about it as better but I moved on to either more expansive genres (r&b, techno, funk) or something more or less easy on the ears (classic rock and a lot of live albums). I still check out my favorites and listen to s*** from 5 years ago, im just not as involved in it
