Exactly!
That makes me wonder tbh @Nikedufflebag name 5 popular street rappers thats popping in ur opinion right now that you see get hate
What's even crazier is Gunna not a street rapper
I said hood niggas AND street rappers.
And on his last album he made it a point to showcase his shady park crips affiliation on the cover. So I’d say he’s at the very least street adjacent

Adjacent isn't street nigga I'm street adjacent technically I wouldn't call my self a street nigga though
Like YoungBoy you prolly had one but Gunna?
Don't get all the fuss about this. It used to be hip hop was over represented in streaming then other genre fans started streaming too. And so what anyways?
Rock music is popping again?
Guessing its probably legacy acts. There's a trend of older songs being more streamed than newer ones.
Let it die in the mainstream, Hip hop always gonna be around
Once it’s not what “looks cool” to hypebeast white kids we’ll stop getting all these uncreative losers that get hyped up for everything except the music

Either way the point is I said hood rappers as well as street rappers. Basically rappers that don’t have that artsy/pretentious vibe to them get seen as lesser artists on here
but the opium truthers and plugnb stans on here told me i was old and washed and everything was actually just fine
this can’t be true

Again tho it feels like you're taking arguments from outside of this and putting it in the thread.
Like what does that have to do with that posters point? Just seems like you're carrying other things that really don't add up.

It all goes back to him saying ice spice is a breath of fresh air. I’m deconstructing why that’s his opinion based on s*** I’ve seen him say.

You’re mistaken, I’ve never s*** on hood niggas or street rappers. The only one who maybe I was negative about was YB but that’s because I just don’t like his music
Ice Spice is still a breath of fresh air regardless
also so many of the big rap acts from like 2012-17 just fell off the face of the earth
like a lot of ppl on here correctly predicted would happen but some of y'all told us we just weren't adapting
ugly god and amine were gonna be the next drake and lil wayne
Whats crazy is that yall are arguing in here but missing the fact that Billboard purposely sabotaged rap because rap was running the charts at the turn of the decade until they made all these excessive rule changes to benefit country/pop artists

This always been a dumb take imo because:
1. There are street dudes that are “artsy”
2. Why wouldn’t you want an artist to be artsy? They are literally a f***ing artist
Sorry guys that put more effort into their sound, Aesthetic, Videos etc. get more artistic credit but it kinda uh makes sense right?

Exactly, why are artists that try to be more artistic considered a bad thing to some people?

That lowering of the bar for street rappers is why rap had died down also because street rappers use to try and be artsy
90s street rappers use to drop movies and s*** like Master P was as street as possible and still put alot of artistic effort everything.

YB made some of the best music in rap from 2017-22 and he was stamped pretty much everywhere you looked but you f***s wouldn’t even respect him until he renegaded Tyler
Yall care about cute little cover arts and s*** like that sometimes even more than the music
