Some people will say separate the art from the artist, but I think it crosses the line to becoming inseparable when the artist starts spewing bigoted hateful s***.
But with Kanye, you've also got to acknowledge his mental health problems. Obviously we don't know when exactly he is and isn't on meds, but his random manic episodes seem indicative of untreated mental issues.
If he said, "I'm on my meds again, and I renounce all of the racist hateful s*** I've said" (and actually stuck with that instead of immediately doing the same s*** again), could he be forgiven by the mainstream?
And if he did all that and dropped something TLOP-level (I think anything Yeezus or MBDTF caliber is out of the question at this point), could he regain his former status?
Or do you think it's a done deal for Yeezy and he's irredeemable?
egregious land grabs in haiti, multiple instances of harassment toward his family online, indoctrinating children en masse at a vanity project doubling as a school, nearly a decade of right wing endorsements, self proclaimed nazi, plethora of sexual assault allegations, etc.
and yet there's nothing to bounce back from because his fans still support him.
if he's ever genuinely interested in not being terrible anymore i don't think he can even come close to making it up in this lifetime. and more importantly, i doubt he'll ever show the willingness to do so.

KSG and Donda have a similar level of quality as TLOP.
Really, Ye's only true misses quality wise are JIK and Vultures. Even Ye has gems that only get better with time and it's concise and stays true to it's theme.

I think yall are misquoting me.
I'm not talking about people criticizing Vultures and FATD. Obviously, those albums have been established as mid.
I'm talking about people retroactively pretending like Her Loss and Donda weren't generally positively received on here and other forums just to push the notion that Drake and Ye made no decent music this decade.
And I've seen a number of people do this and it's hilarious to witness as a member since 2020.

Michael Jackson never bounced back with the general public and media until he died.
I'm afraid the same will be true for Kanye. He's the new Wacko Jacko who has a loyal fanbase but is reviled by the general public. Only death itself can make Kanye be deemed a music legend again just like with MJ.
I just don't think he's stable enough to restore his image while living.

i disagree. half of the songs on Donda should have been kept in the vault.
