  • Trump-Appointed Banking Regulator Grants Charter For Bank Owned By... Trump Family

On August 14, 2026, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), led by Trump appointee Jonathan Gould, granted conditional preliminary approval for a national trust bank charter to World Liberty Trust Co. This entity is tied to World Liberty Financial, a crypto company in which an entity affiliated with President Donald Trump and certain of his family members owns about 38%.

The charter lets the company directly issue, redeem, and custody its own USD1 stablecoin (a digital token pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar). Reserves backing the coin are held in assets like U.S. Treasuries; the issuer keeps the interest earned on those reserves. Trump signed the GENIUS Act in July 2025, the federal law that created the regulatory framework for these stablecoins.

World Liberty Financial was co-founded with involvement from Trump family members and allies, including Zach Witkoff (son of Trump’s special Middle East envoy), who serves in a leadership role. The company has generated substantial reported income for Trump through related activities.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren described the approval as the first time a U.S. president has effectively approved, operated, and supervised his own bank. The same day, Democratic senators introduced the Ending Presidential Corruption in Banking Act to ban regulators from granting bank charters to entities owned or controlled by a sitting president, vice president, or their immediate families.

  • Barron Trump, 19, Hits An Estimated $150 Million Net Worth From President Trump Crypto Venture

In October 2025, Forbes estimated that Barron Trump, then 19 and a college student, had a net worth of about $150 million. Nearly all of it came from his stake in World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency company he co-founded with his father Donald Trump and older brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump in 2024, shortly before the election.

Forbes calculated that World Liberty Financial had added more than $1.5 billion to the overall Trump family fortune. Barron’s share was estimated at roughly 10%, or $150 million. This included proceeds from token sales, a portion of the value of the company’s USD1 stablecoin business, a major deal involving token purchases, and the discounted value of locked tokens allocated to him.

Barron is listed by the company as a co-founder and “DeFi visionary.” At the time of the Forbes estimate, he had no other publicly known significant assets.
