imagine if the death toll for covid ends up being around the same as h1n1

no one will take pandemics seriously anymore.

    With all the precautions taken?

    They better take them seriously

    That was 1918 bro

    50-100 million dead in 1918

What happened with the same H1N1 pandemic in 09? 500k dead at most?

Pandemics aren't really "pandemics" anymore. Sure they may be global diseases and infections but it's no longer associated with wiping out actual percentages of the population.

COVID is 100-500 times more likely to kill you than H1N1

aren't you studying pre-med or something? jesus

yeah you're a rare case then. what do you work on specifically?

thanks for your hard work. my grandma and aunt appreciate it

I don't do research or something like that, I work on the logistics side. Things like planning, making sure we receive enough medicines, orders processing.

The Dutch health institutions are saying when you are coughing or have a cold do not go to work. I have a cold and a little cough, my work tells me I have to come to the office. This is so stupid and dangerous.

Don't go. They can not force you if you have these symptoms, you have rights

interesting. it's really worrisome that you are not preparing for complete shut downs then or methods of working from home

you can't work from home due to security access?

    what's their reasoning?

Contact with the warehouse. It's way more difficult remotely according to them, while in my opinion it isn't a huge issue. Also they do not have laptops with all the necessary software prepared yet. I heared that they are working on that, so that might change the coming week/ 2 weeks.

Rutte is going to eat his words by 6 PM NOS news the schools will shut down they have to

This is why the POTENTIAL OF THE DISEASE needs to be what causes action, not if “it hasn’t killed as many as h1n1 or Spanish flu derrr lol”

that isn't confirmed at all. you're not going to have reliable mortality rates within the first few months of an outbreak. it's confirmed that the vast majority of people who have covid19 experience very mild-moderate symptoms that won't make some run to the hospital

this means that there have been just as many people, if not much more, who had covid19 and were never tested for it because there was no need.

be mindful that 150k is just confirmed cases. in actuality there could've been 300k cases yet still only 5.8k deaths...which would bring the mortality rate to .02% just like H1N1

And there could be many more death from this that aren’t reported!

The fact is it has the ability to overrun health care systems!

    Stop downplaying this

and even with current unreliable numbers covid19 is at .04%

so where did you pull 500 times more likely to die from it?

Do you guys think they’ll extend all the closure periods? I feel like with the schools and shops them saying they’ll close for 2 weeks, they’ll just reopen them again when that period is over rather than extending it

I think only 2 weeks is basically pointless
