I don’t get why people can’t comprehend that wearing a mask/getting a vaccine can help even if it’s not 100% a “cure”…it’s still better than nothing

people turn on each other and spread misinformation endlessly fighting with each other and it is pretty much impossible to convince anybody of anything unless you dedicate yourself to research like its your 9-5. seeing people who made you who you are going legitimately insane is nuts

The severity of overall disease in the entire population does depend on how much more infectious it is vs how much less severe it is tbf, but i havent seen a lot of ppl mention that tbh
We're having another full lockdown in the Netherlands rn despite both infections and/or hospitalizations being on the decline, their reasoning is that the percentage of infections that are omicron variant is increasing, but why does that matter if it doesn't come with an increase in infections and/or hospitalizations?
It's like in a lot of people's minds it's "new virus name = bad"
If hospitalizations are going down that’s good, but a good expression I read from the Atlantic was something to the effect of “if Omicron is 2x weaker but spreads to 2x the immunocompromised, it could be a net neutral”
I f***ed the quote up, but I get the idea that you want to curb spread before it gets too bad

The inconsistency of these rules is driving me insane. I don't live in a very liberal or very conservative area so things like mask rules are so on a store to store or facility basis it's f***ing annoying.
