Leaders looking to rush back to normal will not be looked back upon fondly by history. We are not as far from vaccines and effective treatments as many believe. A few months could make a huge difference.

But in an era of rampant anti-intellectualism, scientists are treated like eggheads with no sense of what's happening in the world. And, frankly, with poor minorities being the ones to go, it hardly makes a difference to the bottom lines of our leaders.

It's fair to say that outside of China and perhaps Lombardy, no location on earth has been as widely infected by COVID-19 as New York City. With that being said:

Their antibody study suggests about 20% have been infected. This is among the most densely populated areas of the world, so comparing it to entire countries with sparsely populated regions makes sense of the wide range of numbers we get from these studies.

There probably is no one area of the world that is more than 20-25% immune at this point. I would argue LA is probably somewhere around 10-15% right now, but the entire state of California is likely no more than 5%.
