Yes - numbers are rising. But my question is, what is the death rate from these numbers?

I'm not trying to sound ignorant or selfish, but I've been out and about in public places and have been around my parents every day since March. Nothing has happened. I am fine and they are fine.

It seems like everyone is overly fearful. Or I am not taking this serious enough?

My parents sit around and watch CNN all day and are freaked out by the rising numbers.

First of all Where are you located? On a national scale (assuming you’re American) it’s getting worse. On a more local level some places are doing much better. Maybe your area is handling it better

Here's the thing: if you got relatives with underlying conditions aka heart problems and such, then all the more reason to be careful with this virus, because yea, those conditions can also come into play and lead to complications and ultimately, death. My folks are over 50, with underlying conditions so I ain't f***ing around with this virus.

about to break my lease and move out of nyc for the first time in 8 years, covid absolutely ravaged things out here. was thinking of riding it out but im thinking that once bars/restaurants reopen people who are in the tristate area or currently staying with their parents elsewhere will all come back and bring the virus with them sparking a second wave. the country really dropped the ball on handling this, and so did a lot of employers who stayed open in the early weeks of march despite all the evidence mounting at a full on pandemic

When you see the term vector exhaustion, vector fatigue, etc it means that the available number of vectors in a given area is running in short supply because of either immunity, quarantine or death. The effect of this is that the virus spreads more slowly.

This would not happen in an area where the virus has been recently introduced, but in places like NYC where a big chunk of the population has already been exposed to it, infection rates tend to shrink. This principle is a factor of herd immunity.
