Yeah anyone that thinks we aren’t gonna be quarantined all summer is delusional. This is getting worse and worse

Why are all of these places reopening then? I thought the same but I feel like things are coming back quicker now. I live in NYC but I think it’s a bad idea to even think of reopening soon

That’s crazy, I’m saying NYC needs to do the same thing or this second wave about to be crazy over here.

My roommate has been sick for almost a week. He’s been super fatigued and feverish, but didn’t really have a cough. Said his chest felt heavy and he had kind of lost his taste.

He went and got a test done yesterday and it came back negative. He still didn’t feel good so he went back to his house.

My mom brought coffee over today and visited for a little bit (sat outside, weren’t super close), and then I get a text from my roommate saying he went to the doctor and they didn’t know what else it would be and that he may have had a false negative on the corona test which is apparently pretty likely to happen

Why wouldn’t they tell him this when they administer the test smh

So I’ve called into work just in case he has it and in turn I have it. I feel like if he did have it I would have shown symptoms by now right? Like, he’s been showing symptoms for about 5 days and I’ve been with him every day for the past month? So it seems like I should’ve gotten it around the same time he did? Or maybe I’m asymptomatic? I tried to get a test but it seems that tests are reserved for people who are showing symptoms or have doctor referrals.

I was supposed to do a live stream performance this weekend too, but that would require me to crash at a friends house which sounds like a bad idea, just on the chance I have it.

What does KTT think? Is it likely I’ve got it? Am I contagious now? Should I stay home from work indefinitely? Should I do the live stream and crash at a friends house? Should I text my ex and tell her I may have it and she may have it too?

what state are you in? Are you sure you can't get tested?

the safe thing to do is assume you have it and are asymptotic

Well yeah of course. I think that's going to be how it is for now.

The question is can we put the fires out without hospitals being overrun? I don't know the answer to that question.

So far, outside of NY and NJ, we have. But that's with mitigation. There are a lot of variables going into this summer that will impact the way the virus spreads compared to March, good and bad. A lot of places will be willing guinea pigs for this experiment.

Louisiana. Idk I called the two testing stations I know of and they said that. I guess I could call around other places tomorrow and see if I get a different answer

The endgame for this isn't to keep people from being exposed to or catching COVID-19. The goal is to make catching COVID-19 not a big deal. Ultimately, we are going to have to reach a point where enough people have immunity that the virus has nowhere to go.

Best case scenario is that we approve a treatment in the next 2-3 months that cuts the fatality rate down significantly. Imagine a scenario whare we're only seeing 500 deaths a day instead of 2000. The case figures would still be high, but with fatal outcomes being much rarer.

Until that happens, I'm still supportive of the lockdown. Once it does, I'll lean towards returning to normal. Eventually, we will have to embrace herd immunity, but not while the fatality rate is in question.
