Researchers modelled how the virus would spread in three scenarios – if the nation stayed in quarantine or if Italians increased their movements by 20 per cent and 40 per cent.

Even if Italians went back to just 20 per cent of their normal routine, it would spark a surge in deaths bigger than the first wave, which has so far killed 30,000 people.

If mobility returned to pre-lockdown levels by 40 per cent, there could be an additional 23,000 deaths, the report found.

The researchers admit their bleak predictions are pessimistic as they do not factor in preventative measures.

But they say their findings highlight the need for contact tracing apps, social distancing and mandatory mask-wearing when the country lifts its restrictions.

It comes during the week that Italy enters 'phase two' of its lockdown after almost two months.

Millions of Italians have been allowed to return to work at factories and contraction sites, public parks have opened up for exercise and families have been reunited."

Well the virus was started in November and that’s a fact according to phylogeny so it most def did not come from Europe.

It prob spread from Chinese tourists, that person in France who had it worked at a store near the airport

I think most countries that successfully reopened did it 2-3 months and the lockdowns were more strict

A virus like this won't go away if it spread around so quickly. Spain and Italy have been in lockdown for so long and they still have over 1000 cases every day

My country was in a lockdown for almost two months with a strict curfew and it's showing results.

Out of 1526 infected,we have 1013 healthy,86 deaths and 427 active cases.

Our peak was two weeks ago and for a few days in a row we've been having single digit new cases and at least 30-40 newly cured(?idk the word) people.
Starting next week they are easing the lockdown and people are slowly but surely gonna get back to their jobs.

But if everyone was theoretically adhering to all of the guidelines there shouldn't be any way for it to spread at all between households. And people only stay infected for a few weeks
