Case fatality rate and human life expectancy straight up prove, objectively, that diseases are less likely to kill than they used to. In 1900, the top 3 causes of death were all diseases: pneumonia, influenza and tuberculosis.

Before the novel coronavirus swept through the world, it was heart disease, cancer and household accidents that were the leading cause of death. Within two years, I guarantee you that ranking will go back to where it was because we're way better at stomping out disease than we used to be.
