If you mean the imperial ones that was quite a while ago? It was 100k-200k for weeks now, and now they’re adjusting because our distancing measures are working better than we thought

  • Lowkey don't want to go back to the office. I hate traffic more than staying inside. Gonna think about finding a new job in the mean time or switch to freelancing if everything gets better

so you agree that predictions based on recent data aren't accurate for mor than 5 or so days?

I’m going off the word of the state i live in. Not the national count. New York daily numbers are down today after having the highest death count yesterday. I keep up with the news just fine. Don’t call me dumb again just bc you’re overly excited to be right

believe what you want but no one can predict the future and those who are newly infected could come to the hospital in 10 days. most of the problems arise after 10 days for many people who are infected with it and many forget that, so the number of deaths will continue to increase over time in ny. just because the number went down a little doesn't mean it will be better directly

and for you: nobody is right because nobody knows s*** even the governors are hoping. lets hope it will go soon in a right direction

So far it seems the US has actually handle this pretty decently after the botch at the beginning

in a situation where there’s new data constantly, sure, models need to be updated. But going from 100-200k to 60k isn’t some crazy change. California’s current results alone can explain that

You can’t really blame New York
People from all over the world are constantly showing up and leaving
Should there have been better precautions? Absolutely, but that could have been said about the whole country

The reason to believe the numbers will go down stems from the models of literally every other country that took the same approach and the fact the numbers are again LITERALLY going down. Idk how much of an authority you are over doctors, the NY governor, and the president

116 days until august 4th with their model projections and 18,849 current deaths already which means 41,151 more deaths in that many days or only an average of ~350 deaths per day lol????? how's it going to drop that much when there's so many infected in the usa

could be at 60k deaths by may 1st averaging the current rate of 2,000 deaths per day, not increasing at all and 20 days remaining

unless there is something i'm missing and something drastic has changed

guess they expect the cfr to drop a lot

don't they realize there's lots of chubby old people in the USA

even if they flattened the curve and cut the death rate in half to 1,000 per day it would only take 40 more days to reach 60,000 so that's before june around memorial day, not august 4th i don't get it at all
