I doubt this holds once the US gets its testing practices together, but it does bear out some of what we've been hearing from Italian leadership, where there has been more plateauing and drops:

Bear in mind, the number of deaths will ALWAYS lag behind impacts of social distancing measures because of 1) the incubation period of the virus and 2) the time it takes for test results to come back.

The US will just keep looking worse and worse for at least another 2-3 weeks before any plateauing can be expected and that's JUST in areas that have locked down. April is going to be ugly.
